Distinguished graduates in mathematics of the Jagiellonian University in the interwar period. Part I: 1918-1926 [PDF]
In this study, we present profiles of some distinguished graduates in mathematics of the Jagiellonian University from the years 1918-1939. We discuss their professional paths and scholarly achievements, instances of scientific collaboration, connections ...

Additive manufacturing technologies like laser powder‐bed fusion offer great design freedom and individualization of products down to a batch size of one. However, parts fabricated with this technology suffer from poor quality. Acoustic assistance during the build process can minimize these drawbacks.

This study presents a 3D representative volume element‐based simulation approach to predict mesoscopic residual stress and strain fields in silicon solid solution‐strengthened ductile cast iron. By modeling phase transformation kinetics with an enhanced Johnson–Mehl–Avrami–Kolmogorov model, the effects of varying cooling rates on residual stresses are ...

Lectures on Duflo isomorphisms in Lie algebra and complex geometry
International audienceDuflo isomorphism first appeared in Lie theory and representation theory. It is an isomorphism between invariant polynomials of a Lie algebra and the center of its universal enveloping algebra, generalizing the pioneering work of ...

Toughness of Confined Auxetic Foams
Auxetic (negative Poisson's ratio) materials offer benefits such as impact mitigation, thermal insulation, vibration damping, and reduced shear strain, although their fracture mechanics are largely unexplored. This study investigates damage initiation and propagation in confined re‐entrant auxetic foams from polyurethane via experimental ...

Axiomatic Differential Geometry Ⅱ-2: Differential Forms [PDF]
We refurbish our axiomatics of differential geometry introduced in [arXiv 1203.3911]. Then the notion of Euclideaness can naturally be formulated. The principal objective in this paper is to present an adaptation of our theory of differential forms ...

Physics in Riemann's mathematical papers
Riemann's mathematical papers contain many ideas that arise from physics, and some of them are motivated by problems from physics. In fact, it is not easy to separate Riemann's ideas in mathematics from those in physics.

A simulative evaluation of triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures for an elastocaloric application under compressive load is performed. For the evaluation of the structure's performance, surface/volume ratio, generated heat and invested mechanical work are taken into account and are compared to a tube as a reference specimen.

DIFFERENTIAL GEOMETRY OF MICROLINEAR FRÖLICHER SPACES I [PDF]
The central object of synthetic differential geometry is microlinear spaces. In our previous paper (Microlinearity in Frölicher spaces - beyond the regnant philosophy of manifolds, International Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics, 60 (2010), 15-24 ...
