Optimal Contracts for Delegated Order Execution

open access: yesMathematical Finance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We determine the optimal affine contract for a client who delegates their order execution to a dealer. Existence and uniqueness are established for general linear price impact dynamics of the dealer's trades. Explicit solutions are available for the model of Obizhaeva and Wang, for example, and a simple gradient descent algorithm is applicable

Explaining the Industrial Revolution: From Agraria to Industria

open access: yesNations and Nationalism, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ernest Gellner suggested that a multi‐factor—indeed, a 15‐factor—model was necessary to explain the Industrial Revolution. Most economic historians prefer a much simpler economistic theory while adding ritual genuflections to the role of ‘culture’ and ‘institutions’.

Can we repudiate ontology altogether?

open access: yesNoûs, EarlyView.
Abstract Ontological nihilists repudiate ontology altogether, maintaining that ontological structure is an unnecessary addition to our theorizing. Recent defenses of the view involve a sophisticated combination of highly expressive but ontologically innocent languages combined with a metaphysics of features—non‐objectual, complete but modifiable states

A Tale of Networks and Networking: Integrating Structural and Behavioral Perspectives on Social Action

open access: yesPersonnel Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Research on social networks and networking has generated critical insights for theories and practices about social action in the work context. These insights mostly derive from two theoretical perspectives: one focuses on the network structures that influence individual actions and outcomes, and the other examines the behaviors that people ...
