Simvastatin Restores Uteroplacental Hemodynamics and Trophoblast Function in Obstetric Antiphospholipid Syndrome in a Placenta‐on‐a‐Chip Model

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Simvastatin mitigates placental hypoperfusion in OAPS by ameliorating abnormal uteromaternal hemodynamics and enhancing trophoblast invasion via optimized endothelial cell interactions under pathological shear stress, as evidenced by results from a placenta‐on‐a‐chip platform.

Mathematical modeling and strategy for optimal control of diphtheria

open access: yesResults in Control and Optimization
This research introduces a novel approach to combating diphtheria by presenting a comprehensive optimal control strategy focused on awareness campaigns to avoid direct contact with infected individuals and promote vaccinations. These campaigns highlight the severe complications of diphtheria, such as acute respiratory issues, myocarditis, and ...

Smart Face Masks as Wearable Respiratory Sensors: A Review of Sensor Technologies, Materials, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in smart face masks that actively monitor breathing. By integrating humidity, gas, temperature, pressure, strain, and triboelectric sensors, these masks track key respiratory parameters in real time. The article summarizes sensor mechanisms, compares performance across studies, and discusses challenges and future ...

Wound Geometry Determines Whether Aligned‐Fiber Scaffolds Accelerate or Impede Diabetic Wound Healing: A Biased Random Walk Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Wound closure is governed by geometry‐orientation coupling: aligned fibers speed migration along their axis but hinder perpendicular advance. In vivo diabetic wound experiments with composition‐matched fibrin, combined with an anisotropic diffusion (biased random‐walk) model, quantify this trade‐off and generate a healing landscape.

Helicopter mathematical modelling and optimal controller design

open access: yes, 2015
In this bachelor thesis, a nonlinear mathematical model simulation and linear controller design for the U1-H1 helicopter was achieved. This thesis is divided into two parts. In the first part, the nonlinear dynamic model is developed using the Matrix Laboratory Software and Heli-Dyn R Software, which is a modeling and simulation tool for rotorcraft ...

Mathematical modelling: A student optimal control problem and extensions

open access: yesMathematical Modelling, 1985
An optimal control problem is introduced in this paper, a mathematical model for the behaviour of a lazy student who desires to pass a certain course with the least amount of work. The author solves the problem by fairly elementary methods involving the Cauchy-Schwartz-Buniakowsky inequality.

Enhanced Endoscopic Internal Drainage of Gastric Abscess Through Additively Manufactured Stents

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Postoperative gastric leaks are often treated with off‐label biliary double‐pigtail stents, yet conventional extruded designs are not optimized for leak anatomy, can migrate, and may limit abscess evacuation. PETALS is introduced to optimize transmural drainage geometry and enable patient‐specific 3D‐printable stents.
