On the mathematical foundations of learning

open access: yes, 2001
(1) A main theme of this report is the relationship of approximation to learning and the primary role of sampling (inductive inference). We try to emphasize relations of the theory of learning to the mainstream of mathematics.

Multiple Scattering Model for the Coherent Optical Response of Correlated Disordered Plasmonic Metasurfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Disordered plasmonic metasurfaces enable advanced control over light scattering through disorder engineering. A theoretical model based on multiple scattering theory is developed to predict the coherent reflection and transmission of light from disordered metasurfaces with arbitrary pair correlations.

Single Photon Emitters in Monolayer Semiconductors Coupled to Transition Metal Dichalcogenide Nanoantennas on Silica and Gold Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐photon emitters in WSe2 are formed at strain hotspots created by transition metal dichalcogenide (WS2) nanoantennas on dielectric and metallic substrates. Enhanced emission properties and collection efficiencies are achieved experimentally, while numerical optimization predicts fluorescence enhancements of more than four orders of magnitude ...

Post‐Deposition Photonic Curing Treatment for Improved Sb2Se3 Photovoltaic Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Millisecond‐scale photonic curing overcomes the open‐circuit voltage deficit in Sb2Se3 solar cells by transforming the rear interface. This ultrafast treatment enhances crystallographic texture and smooths the absorber surface, suppressing interfacial recombination and boosting power conversion efficiency to 8.2%.

LLM‐Integrated Human–Robot Interaction System for Microrobots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This paper proposes an LLM‐based control framework for guiding microrobots using human natural language. This framework can convert the natural human speech into safe and executable command sets for reliable navigation in complex environments. The experimental results show high accuracy and robustness in task performance, demonstrating the potential of

Risk in science and society: towards new pedagogies of probability bayes rules

open access: yes, 2011
The core ideas of probability are taught in schools and universities in a rather abstract sense, particularly since probability is usually taught as a branch of mathematics and rarely linked to realistic contexts.
