Mathematical music theory and the representation of Igbo music [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of Meetings on Acoustics, 2019
The purpose of our paper is to introduce African mathematical music theory: to analyze and represent African (Nigerian) music through visualizations and sonifications of beat-class theory. Many of the current analytical methods to study African (Nigerian) music lack the qualities necessary to recognize the intricate imbibements from music.

STABILITY PATTERNS IN REPRESENTATION THEORY [PDF]

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma, 2013
We develop a comprehensive theory of the stable representation categories of several sequences of groups, including the classical and symmetric groups, and their relation to the unstable categories.

Mathematical utility theory and the representability of demand by continuous homogeneous functions [PDF]

open access: yesPortuguese Economic Journal, 2006
The resort to utility-theoretical issues will permit us to propose a constructive procedure for deriving a homogeneous of degree one continuous function that gives raise to a primitive demand function under suitably mild conditions. This constitutes the first self-contained and elementary proof of a necessary and sufficient condition for an ...

Algorithms for representation theory of real reductive groups [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Institute of Mathematics of Jussieu, 2008
The admissible representations of a real reductive group G are known by work of Langlands, Knapp, Zuckerman and Vogan. This paper describes an effective algorithm for computing the irreducible representations of G with regular integral infinitesimal ...

From the representation theory of vertex operator algebras to modular tensor categories in conformal field theory. [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 2005
Two-dimensional conformal quantum field theory (CFT) has inspired an immense amount of mathematics and has interacted with mathematics in very rich ways, in great part through the mathematically dynamic world of string theory. One notable example of this

Students' Critical Thinking Skills in Solving Mathematical Problems; A Systematic Procedure of Grounded Theory Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Instruction, 2021
Critical thinking (CT) is a type of convergent thinking explored when students learn mathematics. This study aims to obtain a comprehensive representation of students' mathematical Critical Thinking (CT) abilities, based on the mathematical ability level.

Application of Bruner's Learning Theory in Mathematics Studies

open access: yes, 2018
Bruner is a famous educational psychologist and cognitive psychologist in the United States. This paper mainly introduces Bruner's cognitive structure learning theory and discovery learning theory. Through the analysis of mathematics teaching cases, this

Using Valsiner Theory To Enhance Mathematical Representation Ability

open access: yesPancaran Pendidikan, 2017
The purpose of this research was to determine the upgrade mathematical representations of college students using learning based theory Valsiner better than the ability of mathematical representations of students who use conventional learning models and know the rest of the indicator to which students have difficulty in solving problems ability ...

Structural dynamics of the plant hormone receptor ETR1 in a native‐like membrane environment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The present study unveils the structural and signaling dynamics of ETR1, a key plant ethylene receptor. Using an optimized nanodisc system and solution NMR, we captured full‐length ETR1 in a native‐like membrane environment. Our findings reveal dynamic domain uncoupling and Cu(I)‐induced rigidification, providing the first evidence of metal‐triggered ...
