Chern--Simons Terms as an Example of the Relations Between Mathematics and Physics [PDF]

open access: yesRelations between Mathematics and Physics (IHES publications 1998), 1998
The inevitability of Chern--Simons terms in constructing a variety of physical models, and the mathematical advances they in turn generate, illustrates the unexpected but profound interactions between the two disciplines.

FREQ‐NESS Reveals the Dynamic Reconfiguration of Frequency‐Resolved Brain Networks During Auditory Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new analytical pipeline, FREQuency‐resolved Network Estimation via Source Separation (FREQ‐NESS), reveals how the brain at rest is organized in frequency‐specific networks and dynamically rearranges during auditory stimulation. By analyzing source‐reconstructed magnetoencephalography (MEG) data, FREQ‐NESS uncovers the networks' prominence, spatial ...

Confinement by Liquid‐Liquid Interface Replicates In Vivo Neutrophil Deformations and Elicits Bleb‐Based Migration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Leukocytes sense mechanical cues provided by surrounding cells to regulate motility. Replicating the confining pressures applied by soft, elastic tissues in vitro is challenging. Here, the use of liquid‐liquid interfaces is introduced to model forces exerted by surrounding cells. Confining pressures are tunable by controlling interfacial curvature, and

The Semi‐Natural Climate Chambers across Latitudes: A Broadly Applicable Husbandry and Experimental System for Terrestrial Ectotherms under Climate Change

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Assessing species' vulnerabilities across geographical gradients is essential for biodiversity conservation under climate change. To address this challenge, the semi‐natural climate chamber across latitudes (SCCAL) is developed, a validated system capable of simulating thermal environments for ecological experiments without reliance on water or ...

MRAS: Master Regulator Analysis of Alternative Splicing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a computational approach called MRAS, designed to identify master regulators of splicing differences across various biological contexts. In this framework, altered RBP expression, rather than spliceosomal mutations or other modifications, plays a central role in driving these splicing differences.
