Matheuristics: Optimization, Simulation and Control

2009
Matheuristics are heuristic algorithms made by the interoperation of metaheuristics and mathematic programming (MP) techniques. An essential feature is the exploitation in some part of the algorithms of features derived from the mathematical model of the problems of interest, thus the definition "model-based metaheuristics" appearing in the title of ...

A Matheuristic for the Drilling Rig Routing Problem

2020
In this paper, we discuss the real-world Split Delivery Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows (SDVRPTW) for drilling rig routing in Siberia and the Far East. There is a set of objects (exploration sites) requiring well-drilling work. Each object includes a known number of planned wells and needs to be served within a given time interval.

An Efficient Matheuristic for the Inventory Routing Problem

2020
We consider the general multi-vehicle and multi-period Inventory Routing Problem (IRP). A challenging aspect of solving IRPs is how to capture the relationship among the periods where the routing takes place. Once the routes are defined, computing the optimal inventory at each customer on each period amounts to solving a network flow problem.

Solving Binary Cutting Stock with Matheuristics

2014
Many Combinatorial Optimization (CO) problems are classifed as NP - complete problems. The process of solving CO problems in an efficient manner is important since several industry, government and scientific problems can be statedin this form. This work presents a benchmark of three different methodologies to solve the Binary Cutting Stock (BCS ...

Matheuristics for Inventory Routing Problems

2011
In this chapter the authors review the main heuristic approaches for the solution of inventory routing problems and present the most recent and interesting ideas for the design of a new class of heuristics, that they call matheuristics. A matheuristic embeds, in a heuristic or metaheuristic scheme, the exact solution of one or several mathematical ...

A Matheuristic Approach for the p-Cable Trench Problem

2016
The p-Cable Trench Problem is a telecommunications network design problem, which jointly considers cable and trench installation costs and addresses the optimal location of p facilities. In this work, a matheuristic approach based on the POPMUSIC (Partial Optimization Metaheuristic under Special Intensification Conditions) framework is developed.

A Matheuristic Approach for the University Carpooling Problem.

2012
The carpooling problem consists of a shared use of private cars. Typically it is organized by a large company for encouraging its employees to pick up their colleagues minimizing the number of private cars travelling to/from the company site. The core of the efficient management of such a service is to find an optimal matching between the users and ...
