AbstractThe dialectic book of "Aljavāhir Li- Maserrat-ul-Khavātir" is a mathnavi written in 759 verses on the jewels debate with each other to show their superiority. This work is composed by Basiri in his journey to Roman city on 907 Hejira calender. He presented it to Ottoman king Bäyazīd or his boy, king Mohammad.

The main motif behind most of Shakespeare’s tragedies is the concept of Love. This concept may also be seen as the major theme in many of the stories of Rumi’s Mathnawi and Dīvân–e Shams. The fate of this love is usually the death of the lovers by the end of the story.

This dissertation investigates the concept of DEATH as put forward by Rumi in Mathnavi (complete six books, edited and translated by Nicholson, 2013) using the Cultural Linguistic’s framework (Sharifian, 2011, 2017) to provide an insight on the threefold focus of the study through its three research questions.
