Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 1996A slope stability study involving shallow slip surfaces should include the effect of negative pore-water pressures in a slope. A field instrumentation program was carried out to monitor negative pore-water pressure (i.e., in situ matric suction) in a residual soil slope in Singapore.

Development of a Soil Matric Suction Direct Measurement Probe
2015This paper presents the development of a soil matric suction direct measurement probe, based on the instrument originally designed at the Imperial College by A. M. Ridley and J.M. Burland. The prototype is capable of measuring suction values up to 1500 kPa with a theoretical resolution of 7.5kPa.
