‘From the Fields Into the Bars’: The Story of Israel's First Transgender Novel, The Cut (1977)
ABSTRACT In 1977, an Israeli transgender woman, Judy Spotheim, published an autobiographical novel entitled The Cut. It describes the emergence of a trans community in the commercial‐sex areas of Tel Aviv‐Jaffa, hoping to humanise trans women (coccinelles). This article is the first to study the novel and present a biography of Spotheim.

Tegangan Pori Negatif Sebagai Paramater Stabilitas Lereng Tanah Tak Jenuh (Soil Mechanics on Unsaturated Soil) [PDF]
Tegangan air pori negatif atau suction. Suction maksimum terjadi dekat permukaan tanah pada akhir musim kering sehingga kapasitas infiltrasi maksimum terjadi didekat permukaan tanah selama kering, sebaliknya suction minimum terjadi pada akhir musim ...

De‐Coupled Water and Nitrogen Translocation From Subsoil to Canopy of Temperate Forest Trees
ABSTRACT Water and nitrogen (N) transport from soil to canopy play a central role in tree functioning, yet direct evidence for their timing and coupling in mature forests remains scarce. We report results from a paired dual‐isotope (2H, 15N) tracer experiment in a temperate forest, comparing water and nitrate uptake patterns across tree species ...

The load-bearing capacity of a pile embedded in unsaturated soil depends mainly on the matric suction present in the soil. Changes in this parameter directly influence pile performance.

Reliability of Soil Water Characteristics Curve under Different Normal Stresses for Unsaturated Sand [PDF]
The soil water characteristics curve (SWCC) demonstrates a link between soil moisture content and suction. The SWCC is almost treated as an index parameter in unsaturated soil. The soil permeability and shear strength can be linked to SWCC.

First comparative study in oxidative stress between wild bees and managed bees. Bees collected from organic landscapes exhibited the lowest OX levels. Pesticide profiles were different among landscapes. Abstract Oxidative stress (OX) is a state of imbalance between antioxidants and reactive oxygen species, which are the byproducts of oxidative ...

Abstract This study examined the spatiotemporal variability in geotechnical properties of beach cusp sediments on a sandy beach and tested if such variability can be used for cusp monitoring from satellite imagery. Specifically, sediment properties (including moisture content (w), relative density (Dr), sediment strength (QSBC) and friction angle (ϕ ...

Hydraulic or Seepage Erosion: What Drives Bank Collapse in Tidal Environments?
Abstract The collapse of channel banks in tidal environments has typically been interpreted using fluvial concepts that prioritize hydraulic (flow‐driven) erosion. Yet daily tidal fluctuations trap pore water in channel banks, potentially producing sustained seepage flows capable of triggering collapse even without strong currents.

Mineral and organic landslides from the BGS landslide database were each clustered into three distinct groups using landslide‐slope angle, rainfall on the day of the landslide, cumulative rainfall and soil texture. Differences between organic and mineral landslides as well as between landslide clusters were interpreted from a mechanistic viewpoint ...
