Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2013
Rapid urbanization and population growth resulted in severe deterioration of air quality in most of the major cities in India. Therefore, it is essential to ascertain the contribution of various sources of air pollution to enable us to determine effective control policies.

Abstract The methods of positive matrix factorization–chemical mass balance and principal component analysis/multiple linear regression–chemical mass balance were studied in this paper, for combined source apportionment. Due to the high similarity among the source profiles, several problems would raised when only one receptor model was applied.

Influence of Matrix Effects on Quantitative Chemical Analysis by ESCA
1977A quantitative study of gold-silver alloys has revealed a small but significant matrix effect due to changes in the mean free path of the photoelectrons. This was shown by comparsion of the sum of normalized intensities of the gold 4f and the silver 3d lines for 6 Au-Ag alloys with the line intensities of the pure metals.

High-purity indium was analysed by spark source mass spectrometry, using electrical and photoplate detection. For the calibration of the differences in elemental sensitivity, a standard sample was prepared in which 10 impurities were determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. In this way accuracies of less than 40% were obtained for

In recent years, despite the increasing success of liquid chromatography (LC) coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (MS), reports on matrix susceptibility have shown the limitations of the this powerful analytical technique. Matrix effects (MEs) result from co-eluting residual matrix components affecting the ionization efficiency of target analytes and ...

Abstract This review describes several of the main techniques used to determine matrix element distributions and those which can provide a survey of impurity levels and assess deliberate doping concentrations in Cd x Hg 1 − x Te and CdTe-based substrate materials.

The techniques of factor analysis are used to investigate a data matrix constructed from magnetic resonance parameters for seventy-five 4-substituted styrenes, α-methylstyrenes, and α-tert-butylstyrenes and 3-substituted styrenes and α-methylstyrenes (with fifteen common substituents for each series).

Transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) are used in thin film silicon (Si:H) photovoltaics (PV) technology as top electrical contacts and as the components of back-reflecting structures. TCOs are often prepared with macroscopically rough interfaces and/or surfaces (i.e., with "texture") in order to scatter light and thereby enhance optical path lengths in
