Due to the importance of linear algebra and matrix operations in data analytics, there has been a renewed interest in developing query languages that combine both standard relational operations and linear algebra operations. We survey aspects of the matrix query language MATLANG and extensions thereof, and connect matrix query languages to classical ...

Gesture, 2009
In The origins of human communication, a book based on the Jean Nicod Lectures delivered in Paris in the Spring of 2006, Michael Tomasello argues that human communication depends upon and is made possible by what he calls a “cognitive infrastructure” which allows humans to share common ground with one another.

Sequential/Parallel Matrix Array Languages
Journal of Cybernetics, 1975Abstract A new system, that of matrix grammars, for two-dimensional pattern processing is introduced. Two hierarchies induced on Chomsky's are found and are compared with each other. Language operations such as union, catenation (row and column), Kleene's closure (row and column) and homomorphisms are investigated.

PARIKH MATRIX MAPPING AND LANGUAGES
International Journal of Foundations of Computer Science, 2010Restricting the Parikh Matrix mapping to a language rather than to an alphabet rises a set of problems that seem interesting to us. Moreover, amiability (or M -equivalence as it is named by other authors) is exploited in order to characterise certain types of languages. The paper also proposes a series of results establishing relations between classes

Image theorems for simple matrix languages andn-parallel languages
Mathematical Systems Theory, 1974Three image theorems are proved for three families of languages in terms of prototype languages and (nondeterministic) generalized sequential machine maps. Further, for one family, then-right linear simple matrix languages of Ibarra, a new characterization theorem is proved.

Interactive Matrix Language – IML
2014Fur fast alle Aspekte einer Datenanalyse gibt es in SAS passende Prozeduren. Die Prozedur REG beispielsweise fuhrt eine Regression durch und ARIMA passt einen stochastischen Prozess an eine Zeitreihe an.

Sequential/parallel matrix picture languages
Proceedings of the 3rd annual conference on Computer graphics and interactive techniques, 1976A new system, that of matrix grammars, for two-dimensional picture processing, is introduced. A hierarchy, induced on Chomsky's is found. Language operations such as union, catenation (row and column), Kleene's closure (row and column), and homomorphisms are investigated.

Richards explains how effective language teaching involves a network of interactions between curriculum, methodology, teachers, learners, instructional materials. Each chapter discusses and examines the theoretical and practical dimensions of a central issue in language teaching. Topics covered include the nature of effective teaching, self-monitoring

Framing Indigenous Languages as Secondary to Matrix Languages
Anthropology & Education Quarterly, 2007Reversing language shift has proven to be difficult for many reasons. Although much of the literature has focused on educational practices, little research has attended to the visual presentation of language used in educational texts aimed at reversing shift. In this article, we compare language materials developed for two different language situations,

Equal matrix languages and Kleene closure
Proceedings of the Indian Academy of Sciences - Section A, 1971It is shown that the family of equal matrix languages (EML) which intersects the family of context-sensitive and context-free languages is not closed under Kleene closure, intersection and complementation. The family of bounded EML whose generative power lies between that of bounded context-sensitive languages and bounded context-free languages is ...
