Matrix Representation of Gaussian Optics [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physics, 1964
The ray-tracing method is used to discuss Gaussian optics. After proving that Gaussian optics can be described by matrices, some often-used general formulas for telescopic and focusing systems are derived. This formalism is then used to solve several problems.

Deep Subspace Clustering with Block Diagonal Constraint

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The deep subspace clustering method, which adopts deep neural networks to learn a representation matrix for subspace clustering, has shown good performance.

Face Recognition Based on Robust Principal Component Analysis and Kernel Sparse Representation [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji gongcheng, 2016
Aiming at the problems that the existing face recognition methods are hard to efficiently overcome the effect of noise and error disturbance (such as illumination, occlusion, and face expression).Kernel sparse representation classification based on Robust ...

Matrix representation of simple halfrings [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1977
The structure of halfrings which are strong direct sums of minimal subtractive right ideals is studied. A class of right simple hemirings which contains both division hemirings and differential subsemirings of division rings is introduced and studied extensively as a tool in this investigation.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Matrix Representations of Artin Groups [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1988
We define matrix representations of Artin groups over a 2 2 -variable Laurent-polynomial ring and show that in the rank 2 case, the representations are faithful. In the special case of Artin’s braid group, our representation is a version of the Burau representation and our faithfulness theorem is a generalization of the well-known fact

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

A new matrix representation of multidigraphs

open access: yesAKCE International Journal of Graphs and Combinatorics, 2020
In this article, we introduce a new matrix associated with a multidigraph, named as the complex adjacency matrix. We study the spectral properties of bipartite multidigraphs corresponding to the complex adjacency matrix.
