Experimental study on strength properties of unsaturated intact loess in loess tableland regions

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2018
In order to obtain the deformation and strength parameters and other related parameters of unsaturated intact loess in the loess tableland regions of Gansu Province, the triaxial consolidation drained shear tests are performed on the unsaturated intact ...

Photothermal–Magnetocaloric Coupled Evaporators for Actively Adjustable Water Evaporation and Oil–Water Purification in Complex Environments

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A photothermal–magnetocaloric coupled aerogel evaporator is developed for actively adjustable water evaporation in complex environments. Magnetocaloric heating provides active energy compensation under low‐light conditions and disrupts interfacial hydrogen‐bond networks to promote evaporation.

Epilepsy characteristics in patients with muscle‐eye‐brain disease: A systematic review of electroclinical features

open access: yesEpileptic Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Objectives Muscle‐Eye‐Brain disease (MEB) is a dystroglycanopathy that belongs to the congenital muscular dystrophies. Central nervous system manifestations include congenital brain abnormalities, neurodevelopmental delay, and epilepsy, making it a rare but important cause of developmental and epileptic encephalopathy.

Creation of a Landslide Susceptibility Map Using Short‐Term Data From the July 2018 Heavy Rainfall in Southern Hiroshima Prefecture

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
This work advances landslide susceptibility mapping by incorporating short‐term trigger data with landscape susceptibility mapping. We also examine the importance of downsampling, watershed delineation and geospatial correlations in evaluating outcomes.

The time-dependent expression of keratins 5 and 13 during the reepithelialization of human skin wounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The time-dependent reepithelialization of 55 human surgical skin wounds with a wound age between 8h and more than 2 months was investigated by the immunohistochemical localization of cytokeratins 5 and 13.

A novel approach for in situ benthic habitat characterization

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, EarlyView.
Abstract Habitat heterogeneity is a key driver of temporal and spatial variability of subtidal marine benthic biodiversity. However, this makes it a challenging environment in which to measure and quantify the factors driving biodiversity in a consistent manner.

Recent Advances (2023–2025) of Capillary Electrophoresis‐Mass Spectrometry (CE‐MS) for Top‐Down Proteomics

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Top‐down proteomics (TDP) characterizes proteoforms in cells, tissues, and biofluids, in discovery mode and on a global scale, requiring analytical tools with high peak capacity for proteoform separation and high sensitivity for proteoform detection, given the extremely high proteoform complexity and wide proteoform concentration dynamic range.

A microstructure insight into the water retention properties of the Callovo-Oxfordian claystone

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2016
The effect of changes in suction on the microstructure of the Callovo-Oxfordian claystone along wetting and drying paths was investigated by using mercury intrusion porosimetry.

Experimental research on influences of suction on deformation characteristics of loess under unloading-reloading conditions

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2017
In order to explore the influences of matrix suction and net confining pressure on the deformation-strength and unloading-reloading modulus of loess, three groups of 27 tests are performed using the unsaturated triaxial apparatus for undisturbed Q3 loess

Where were all the trees? Computer vision meets landscape history to unlock the potential of historical Ordnance Survey maps

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract The first edition of the Ordnance Survey's 1:2500 County Series is marked with treed areas, such as woodlands and orchards, and, remarkably, freestanding trees. Consequently, it is an unparalleled source of information on the distribution of trees across Britain in the mid‐late nineteenth century, when the maps were first surveyed. In order to
