TEMPERATURE, LIGHT, AND DESICCATION TOLERANCE IN SEED GERMINATION OF Mauritia flexuosa L.F. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Palm trees are widely used as ornamental plants, besides its sustainability and industry aspects. These plants are commercially propagated via seeds. Due to its importance and the need for seed germination information, this study aimed to verify the effect of temperature, light regimes, and desiccation tolerance on germination of Mauritia ...

Refrigerated storage of the fruits of buriti (Mauritia flexuosa L.)
The objective of this study was to evaluate different storage conditions to maximize the shelf-life of buriti fruits; under ambient conditions the fruits last only 2-3 days. Buriti fruits were stored refrigerated at 10, 12 and 15oC with 85±5% relative humidity, and at room temperature (23±5°C) and 60±5% relative humidity.

Influence of refining on the properties of buriti oil (Mauritia flexuosa L.f.)
Vegetables oils are renewables sources of ready availability with vast commercial employability. The application of these oils, generally, requires refining procedures for the removal of substances that make it unfeasible, such as phosphatides, proteins and free fatty acids.

Brazil's Cerrado valley wetlands—swamp savanna and gallery forest—are highly important for the biome's water cycle and carbon storage and are susceptible to degradation from the impacts of land use expansion and the climate crisis. In support of their detailed monitoring and assessment, we developed and tested a transferable mapping approach that ...

Summary Tropical peatlands are critical for climate mitigation due to their dual role as major carbon sinks and methane sources. In rainforests, high and stable rainfall supports peat accumulation in tropical climates. However, groundwater‐fed peatlands in seasonally dry tropical ecosystems remain poorly understood, despite their potential importance ...
