Spatial modeling of extreme temperature in the Canadian Prairies using max-stable processes
The Prairie region of Canada is an agriculture-intensive area and is strategic to Canada's food security. Moisture deficit due to extreme temperatures leading to high evapotranspiration can have significant impacts on water availability, resulting in ...

Limit theorems for excursion sets of stationary random fields
We give an overview of the recent asymptotic results on the geometry of excursion sets of stationary random fields. Namely, we cover a number of limit theorems of central type for the volume of excursions of stationary (quasi--, positively or negatively)

Magnetic properties of anisotropic bonded NdFeB/SmCo permanent magnets
Anisotropic bonded NdFeB permanent magnets have wide potential applications in the areas such as brushless DC motors, spindle motors, and stepping motors due to their excellent processing property and high magnetic properties.

Stationary max-stable processes with the Markov property
We prove that the class of discrete time stationary max-stable process satisfying the Markov property is equal, up to time reversal, to the class of stationary max-autoregressive processes of order $1$. A similar statement is also proved for continuous time processes.

Vacancy formation energy as a descriptor of the exfoliability of MAX phases to MXenes
A thermodynamic descriptor for chemical exfoliation of MXenes remains elusive, primarily because the process is dynamic and MXenes are inherently metastable. Here we show that vacancy formation energies provide such a descriptor.

Estimates of the Rate of Convergence for Max-Stable Processes
Let \(\bar X=\{X_ j\); \(j\in {\mathbb{N}}\}\), \(\bar Y=\{Y_ j\); \(j\in {\mathbb{N}}\}\) be the sequences of r.v.'s taking values in spaces \(L_ r(T)\), \(1\leq r0,\quad c_ j(n)\geq 0,\quad j=2,3,...,\quad \sum^{\infty}_{j=1}c_ j(n)=1. \] For any \(\bar X,\) \(\bar Y\) and \(\bar C\) define the normalized maxima \[ \bar X_ n:=\max_{j\in {\mathbb{N ...

Statistical Inference for Max-Stable Processes by Conditioning on Extreme Events
In this paper we provide the basis for new methods of inference for max-stable processes ξ on general spaces that admit a certain incremental representation, which, in important cases, has a much simpler structure than the max-stable process itself. A corresponding peaks-over-threshold approach will incorporate all single events that are extreme in ...

Regional Modelling of Extreme Storms Via Max-Stable Processes
SUMMARY Asymptotic models for extremes of random processes often form the basis for estimating the extremal behaviour of environmental phenomena. Most such phenomena have a spatial dimension, and the aim of this paper is to develop a procedure for modelling in continuous space the spatial dependence within extreme events.
