Interpreting Ice Anisotropy of Greenland's Fastest Outlet Glacier Using Basal Icequakes
Abstract Ice anisotropy can have significant impact on ice rheology and flow dynamics. However, a lack of in situ measurements limits the validation and incorporation of anisotropy, so most ice flow models assume isotropic ice. Especially observations of anisotropy in fast‐flowing ice streams are scarce.

Viewing Stomata in Action: Autonomous in Planta Imaging of Individual Stomatal Movement
ABSTRACT Stomata regulate plant gas exchange under changing environments, but observations of single stomata dynamics in planta are sparse. We developed a compact microscope system that can measure the kinetics of tens of stomata in planta simultaneously, with sub‐minute time resolution.

Chinese Development Finance and African Policy Space: Towards Productive Incoherence?
ABSTRACT How does Chinese Development Finance influence perceptions of policy space across Sub‐Saharan Africa? This paper employs Grabel's concept of ‘productive incoherence’ to both describe the ‘new development finance landscape’ and to explore its implications for recipient‐country policy space.

Improved Real‐Time Hail Damage Estimates Leveraging Dense Crowdsourced Observations
This study leverages dense crowdsourced hail reports over Switzerland to improve real‐time building damage predictions. By applying a rigorous filtering approach and a custom interpolation method, a gridded hail size product is derived for each event and used as input to a hail damage model.

We investigated the effects of food availability (personal information) and conspecific vocalization (social information) on habitat selection of the Wryneck Jynx torquilla. Both personal and social information seem to affect Wryneck habitat selection behaviour. Nevertheless, habitat quality, and in particular food availability, is more important and a

ABSTRACT There is growing evidence in humans linking the temporal coupling between spindles and slow oscillations during NREM sleep with the overnight stabilization of memories encoded from daytime experiences in humans. However, whether the type and strength of learning influence that relationship is still unknown. Here we tested whether the amount or

Persistence, not avoidance, is associated with low back pain—An observational cohort study
Abstract Background Low back pain (LBP) is increasingly understood as a long‐lasting condition with a variable course. Avoidance and persistence behaviour have been described to mediate pain persistence by potentially linking psychosocial factors and biomechanics.

We use an innovative Smart tracker combined with remotely sensed velocity data to compare the velocity of two adjacent soft‐bedded Icelandic glaciers. They have distinct subglacial hydrologies due to differences in meltwater flux, subglacial transmissivity and the presence of a deep proglacial lagoon.

Abstract Summer heat extremes increasingly co‐occur worldwide, posing disastrous impacts on our society and the environment. However, the spatial pattern and underlying mechanisms of concurrent heat extremes remain unclear. We used a statistical framework to estimate the spatial concurrence strength of heat extremes in the Northern Hemisphere and ...
