Emissivity spectra estimated with the MaxEnTES algorithm
SPIE Proceedings, 2014Temperature and Emissivity Separation (TES) applied to multispectral or hyperspectral Thermal Infrared (TIR) images of the Earth is a relevant issue for many remote sensing applications. The TIR spectral radiance can be modeled by means of the well-known Planck’s law, as a function of the target temperature and emissivity.

The Application of MaxEnt to Electron Microscopy [PDF]
MaxEnt has been used to great effect, for optical deblurring, medical image enhancement and minimising noise and improving the resolution in radio astronomy. More recently we have successfully applied the Cambridge ‘MemSys5’ MaxEnt algorithm to extending the resolution of high resolution electron microscopes by up to an order of magnitude.

Supersymmetry and the q-MaxEnt treatment
Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2002Abstract We introduce trial functions of a form that maximizes Tsallis’ information measure with the goal of using them together with the supersymmetric variational approach of Cooper, Dawson, and Shepard.

Maxent, Mathematics, and Information Theory [PDF]
This is a mathematically oriented survey about the method of maximum entropy or minimum I-divergence, with a critical treatment of its various justifications and relation to Bayesian statistics. Information theoretic ideas are given substantial attention, including “information geometry”.

Conjugate priors for generalized MaxEnt families
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2014Bayes theorem can be seen as the result of an optimization problem. By slightly altering this optimization problem many generalized Bayes rules can be constructed. In this work we show that a notion of a conjugate prior for non exponential family distributions can be recovered if one uses one of these generalized rules.

Abbreviation Recognition with MaxEnt Model
2006Abbreviated words carry critical information in the literature of many special domains. This paper reports our research in recognizing dotted abbreviations with MaxEnt model. The key points in our work include: (1) allowing the model to optimize with as many features as possible to capture the text characteristics of context words, and (2) utilizing ...

Quantum tomography via the MaxEnt principle
Journal of Modern Optics, 2000We show how the maximum entropy (MaxEnt) principle can he efficiently used for a reconstruction of quantum states of light from incomplete tomographic data. This MaxEnt reconstruction scheme is several orders more efficient than the standard inverse Radon transformation or the reconstruction via direct sampling using pattern functions.

On Parameter Estimation and Quantified Maxent
1991We give a Bayesian comparison between parameter estimation and free-form reconstruction by quantified MaxEnt. The evidence favours the latter prior for the example analysed, and we suggest that this may hold more generally.

The Inverse MaxEnt and MinxEnt Principles and their Applications
1990Two inverse MaxEnt (maximum entropy) and two inverse MinxEnt (minimum cross-entropy) principles are stated followed by some applications taken from diverse fields. A case is made out for the use of generalized measures of entropy and cross-entropy which naturally arise in such inverse principles.
