Bilateral supernumerary primary maxillary canines

open access: yesJournal of Oral Research and Review, 2018
Supernumerary teeth are more common in the permanent than in primary dentition. In the primary dentition, the anomaly is most frequently observed in the maxillary lateral incisor region, followed by the maxillary midline where they are termed as ...

A connection between the bipartite complements of line graphs and the line graphs with two positive eigenvalues [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
In 1974 Cvetkovi\'c and Simi\'c showed which graphs $G$ are the bipartite complements of line graphs. In 2002 Borovi\'canin showed which line graphs $L(H)$ have third largest eigenvalue $\lambda_3\leq0$. Our first observation is that two of the graphs Borovi\'canin found are the complements of two of the graphs found by Cvetkovi\'c and Simi\'c.

The effects of inhomogeneities on scroll-wave dynamics in an anatomically realistic mathematical model for canine ventricular tissue [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF) are lethal rhythm disorders, which are associated with the occurrence of abnormal electrical scroll waves in the heart. Given the technical limitations of imaging and probing, the in situ visualization of these waves inside cardiac tissue remains a challenge.

Removable Partial Dentures vs Overdentures in Children with Ectodermal Dysplasia: Two Case Reports [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Ectodermal dysplasia (ED) represents a disorder group characterised by abnormal development of the ectodermal derivatives. Removable partial dentures (RPD), complete dentures (CD) or overdentures (OD) are most often the treatment of choice for young ...

Comparative and functional anatomy of masticatory muscles and bite force in opossums (Didelphimorphia, Didelphidae)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
We describe the functional anatomy of masticatory muscles in nine opossums, finding a generalized anatomical pattern with differences related to skull morphology. Variation in quantitative myological data and estimated bite force was mostly related to size, and the increase in bite force supports dietary diversification associated with size increase ...

Molar incisor hypomineralisation: current knowledge and practice

open access: yesInternational Dental Journal, EarlyView., 2020
Background Molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH) is a common developmental dental condition that presents in childhood. Areas of poorly formed enamel affect one or more first permanent molars and can cause opacities on the anterior teeth. MIH presents a variety of challenges for the dental team as well as functional and social impacts for affected ...

On computational fluid dynamics models for sinonasal drug transport: relevance of nozzle subtraction and nasal vestibular dilation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Generating anatomically realistic three-dimensional (3D) models of the human sinonasal cavity for numerical investigations of sprayed drug transport presents a host of methodological ambiguities. For example, subject-specific radiographic images used for 3D reconstructions typically exclude spray bottles.

Localisation of the unerupted maxillary canine

open access: yesAustralasian Orthodontic Journal, 1986
Abstract The need to localise unerupted teeth is a common clinical problem. lnspection, palpation and radiographic views are discussed. This paper concentrates on the radiographic localisation of the unerupted maxillary canine. Emphasis is given to the reduction of exposure of the patient to ionising radiation by (i) using a minimal ...

The relationship between form and function of the carnivore mandible

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Dietary morphology diversified extensively in Carnivoraformes (living Carnivora and their stem relatives) during the Cenozoic (the last 66 million years) as they evolved to capture, handle, and process new animal and plant diets. We used 3D geometric morphometrics, mechanical advantage, and finite element analysis to test the evolutionary ...

Orthodontic management of a dilacerated central incisor and partially impacted canine with unilateral extraction – A case report

open access: yesSaudi Dental Journal, 2017
Aim: To align a dilacerated maxillary central incisor and partially impacted canine with unilateral extraction in a young patient with skeletal deep bite. Materials and methods: A 14 year old male patient reported to the hospital with skeletal deep bite (
