Simulation of the Exophthalmia Reduction using a Finite Element Model of the Orbital Soft Tissues [PDF]
This paper proposes a computer-assisted system for the surgical treatment of exophthalmia. This treatment is classically characterized by a de-compression of the orbit, by the mean of an orbital walls osteotomy. The plan-ning of this osteotomy consists in defining the size and the location of the de-compression hole.

ABSTRACT An example of contrasting responses in two root fractured teeth in a 16‐year‐old male seriously injured in a hit‐and‐run motor accident is documented over a 34‐year 9‐month period. Extended non‐surgical endodontic management was necessary for one of the root‐fractured central incisors that had developed an infective marginal breakdown, and by ...

A 3D Finite Element model of the face for simulation in plastic and maxillo-facial surgery [PDF]
This paper introduces a new Finite Element biomechanical model of the human face, which has been developed to be integrated into a simulator for plastic and maxillo-facial surgery. The idea is to be able to predict, from an aesthetic and functional point of view, the deformations of a patient face, resulting from repositioning of the maxillary and ...

Immediate anterior tooth replacement by using an esthetic fixed bridge: A case report
Introduction: Loss of teeth due to extraction is often found in some cases. Preserving interproximal soft tissue and preventing alveolar bone from collapse due to tooth extraction is the most challenging issue. Ovate pontic design can give a natural look

A CT-guided Control Framework of a Robotic Flexible Endoscope for the Diagnosis of the Maxillary Sinusitis [PDF]
Flexible endoscopes are commonly adopted in narrow and confined anatomical cavities due to their higher reachability and dexterity. However, prolonged and unintuitive manipulation of these endoscopes leads to an increased workload on surgeons and risks of collision.

ABSTRACT Background/Aim This study evaluated the impact of simulation training using 3D‐printed models on anxiety, stress, self‐confidence, and knowledge among dental students managing dentoalveolar trauma. Material and Methods This prospective, randomized controlled trial was conducted with fourth‐year dental students, who were assigned to two groups.

The dynamics of the stomatognathic system from 4D multimodal data [PDF]
The purpose of this chapter is to discuss methods of acquisition, visualization and analysis of the dynamics of a complex biomedical system, illustrated by the human stomatognathic system. The stomatognathic system consists of the teeth and the skull bones with the maxilla and the mandible. Its dynamics can be described by the change of mutual position
