Bone biology in aging periodontal and peri‐implant tissues

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Periodontal disease is an age‐related chronic inflammatory condition leading to tooth loss. Dental implants are an option for replacement of lost teeth in older adults. However, age‐related changes to alveolar bone may have pathological implications for its role in supporting the dentition and dental implants.

Understanding exosomes in regenerative dentistry

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Regenerative dentistry is shifting from cell‐based strategies to cell‐free biologics capable of orchestrating intricate tissue repair. Exosomes, nanosized extracellular vesicles carrying bioactive molecular payloads, have emerged as central modulators of intercellular communication.

Preoperative Prognostic Nutritional Index Predicts Prolonged Postoperative Hospital Stay in Patients With Oral Cancer Undergoing Highly Invasive Surgery

open access: yesOral Science International, Volume 23, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To evaluate whether preoperative prognostic nutritional index (PNI) values predict prolonged postoperative hospital stay in patients with oral cancer undergoing highly invasive surgery. Methods We retrospectively evaluated background factors (age, sex, primary site, preoperative clinical stage, type of free flap, and the PNI) and ...

Applications of Bioinorganic Nano‐Based Delivery Systems—Diagnostics and Therapeutics

open access: yesDrug Development Research, Volume 87, Issue 5, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Nanotechnology has emerged as a promising avenue for producing nanomedicines as alternatives to conventional drugs. Many organic nanoparticles, such as liposomes used in formulations like Doxil, Onivyde, and Marqibo, are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and instrumental in treating various types of cancers.
