Bacteriology of the maxillary sinus
Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1987The bacteriologic findings in the maxillary sinus of 20 patients who underwent surgical repositioning of the maxilla are presented. Using an open sterile surgical technique, three samples from each patient were collected prior to the planned osteotomy. The specimens included a section of the anterior bony sinus wall, an aspirate of the irrigated sinus,

Pseudocyst of the maxillary sinus
Journal of Endodontics, 1993A case report is presented involving the endodontic retreatment of a maxillary second molar associated with a sinus radiopacity. Disappearance of sinus pathosis occurred within 6 days after root canal debridement. A direct relationship between apical pathosis and a pseudocyst of the maxillary sinus is suggested.

A case of unilateral aplasia is reported. Associated anatomical anomalies and review of the literature is described, and a comparison with maxillary sinus hypoplasia is made.A 40-year-old male was complaining of an esthetic "defect" in his face. There was an antero-posterior depression in the left infraorbital region. Computed tomography showed absence

Mucoceles of the maxillary sinus
Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1997The maxillary sinus is an uncommon site for mucoceles within the paranasal sinuses. In this study nine patients with maxillary sinus mucoceles are presented. Six of these patients were treated by open approaches, and three were treated by endoscopic drainage alone.

Stones are not uncommon in the nasal cavities; in the maxillary sinuses they are rare, and there have been no reports of their occurrence in the other paranasal sinuses. Only 8 acceptable cases of maxillary sinus stones have been reported (2–9). In some of the older cases, the clinical history is incomplete, but most of the stones apparently formed ...

MUCOCELE OF THE MAXILLARY SINUS
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1954A MUCOCELE is rarely found in the maxillary sinus, 1 although mucoceles of the sphenoid, ethmoid, and frontal sinuses are not uncommon. For this reason our case of a large mucocele limited to the maxillary sinus is being reported. REVIEW OF LITERATURE The etiology of this condition is still somewhat obscure.

Paraganglioma of the maxillary sinus
The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 1990AbstractNon-chromaffin paragangliomas are unusual tumours arising in specialized tissue, probably of neural crest origin. A primary non-chromaffin paraganglioma of the paranasal sinuses is a very rare tumour with only a handful of such cases documented in the literature.

AbstractPrimary site control, anatomical site of failure, survival, and complications of treatment were determined in a retrospective review of primary maxillary sinus carcinoma. Sixty‐one patients were treated by radiation followed by surgery and 35 by radiation alone. Primary tumor control was achieved in 69% of patients receiving combined treatment,

Meningioma of the Maxillary Sinus
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1962Extracranial meningiomas are described as being relatively rare, with the majority arising from the meningeal layers of the optic nerve in the orbit. 1 A review of the English literature revealed reports of lesions occurring in the frontal and posterior ethmoid sinuses, but most likely as local extensions from an intracranial source. There has been 1

We report the case of 71-year-old woman with no prior history who had a left maxillary mass for 6 months. Axial Tomography and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance revealed a lesion of 7.7x6.9x4.7cm in the left maxillary sinus. Excisional biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of haemangioma.
