Computed tomography reveals the endocranial anatomy of Crocodylia: Implications for phylogenetic relationships and ecomorphological convergence across Crocodylomorpha

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 249, Issue 6, Page 1368-1427, December 2026.
The evaluation of the endocranial anatomy of 43 crocodylian species reveals several differences, including variation in the curvature of the encephalic endocast, the size of the endosseous labyrinth and paratympanic sinuses, and the presence of additional snout sinuses.

Giant Central Ossifying Fibroma of the Anterior Maxilla and Maxillary Sinus With Orbital Floor Extension: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT A 25‐year‐old woman presented with a giant conventional ossifying fibroma of the anterior maxilla extending into the maxillary sinus and elevating the orbital floor. Complete intraoral enucleation preserved the lateral incisor. Histopathology confirmed conventional ossifying fibroma. No recurrence occurred at 12 months, supporting conservative

Retrospective analysis of pathological changes in the maxillary sinus with CBCT

open access: yesScientific Reports
The aim of this study is to examine the frequency of maxillary sinus pathologies and their relationship with each other using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and to make a new grade according to the number of affected walls.

Intranasal Ectopic Tooth in an Adolescent With Unilateral Cleft Lip and Palate: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT A 14‐year‐old male with repaired cleft lip and palate presented with unilateral foul‐smelling nasal discharge, obstruction, and facial pain. CT identified an intranasal ectopic tooth with chronic sinusitis. Surgical removal using a Caldwell Luc approach resulted in symptom resolution.

Clinical approach to anatomical variations of maxillary sinus — a surgical perspective

open access: yesFolia Morphologica
BACKGROUND: The maxillary sinus, the largest of the paranasal sinuses, is a structure of great clinical importance for numerous specialists. While the typical sinus anatomy is widely known, awareness regarding anatomical variations is less widespread ...

Radiographic identification and description of the equine middle conchal sinus (ethmoidal sinus): Implications for diagnosing middle conchal sinusitis

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, Volume 58, Issue 6, Page 1627-1635, November 2026.
Abstract Background The middle conchal sinus (MCS) (ethmoidal sinus) remains one of the least understood equine paranasal compartments. Despite recognition of its involvement in sinonasal disease, disorders of the MCS often remain underdiagnosed in the absence of computed tomographic (CT) imaging due to limited anatomical understanding and challenges ...

Investigation of the relationship of the maxillary sinus floor with maxillary posterior teeth using cone beam CT

open access: yesFolia Morphologica
BACKGROUND: Any intervention to the maxillary posterior teeth (MPT) and alveola pose a risk of sinus perforation. Given the proximity of these structures, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between the maxillary sinus (MS) and MPT ...
