Spray coloring of silicone elastomer maxillofacial prostheses

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1969
Pigment concentrates. The pigment concentrates are prepared by grinding the desired pigment with RTV 399 silicone elastomer in a mortar and pestle until a smooth pigment dispersion in silicone elastomer is obtained (Fig. 1). The formulations prepared are shown in Table I.

Properties of silicone maxillofacial elastomer processed in stone and metal

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1980
1. The effect of mold conditions on the UTS, n, and TS at 200% and 300% elongations, and Shore A hardness was measured for Silastic 44210. 2. There was no difference in n, Shore A hardness, and TS at 200% and 300% elongation between Silastic 44210 samples whether produced in metal or coated stone molds. 3.

Properties of a modified cross‐linked silicone for maxillofacial prostheses

Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 1987
SummaryA dimethyl siloxane‐triacetoxy terminated silane, Type A adhesive, can be modified with the base component of a medium grade polydimethyl siloxane with vinyl groups, MDX 4‐4210, to produce more pliable maxillofacial prostheses. The mechanical properties of samples with various Type A adhesive/MDX 4‐4210 ratios were determined.

The Use of Silicon Elastomer in Maxillofacial Rehabilitation as a Substitute for or in Conjunction With Resins

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2006
Maxillofacial prosthetic rehabilitation aims to restore anatomic function when serious tissue defects are present, as a result of congenital factors, trauma, or surgery. The aims are both aesthetic and functional, and results are obtained using devices that contain, reconstruct, and fill.

Adhesion of silicone to polyurethane in maxillofacial prostheses.

The International journal of prosthodontics, 1994
Primers have been reported to increase adhesion between silicone elastomers and polyurethane liners used for maxillofacial prostheses. This study evaluated two primers, three polymerization methods, and seven primer reaction times to determine the conditions for optimum adhesive bond strength.

Color stability of maxillofacial prosthetic silicone functionalized with oxide nanocoating

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2019
Maxillofacial prostheses made of silicone elastomers undergo undesirable color degradation over time. How this color change can be prevented is unclear. The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the ability of an oxide nanocoating to prevent color degradation of maxillofacial silicone elastomers after artificial accelerated aging.A silicone ...

The Effect of Cigarettes Smoke on the Color and Properties of a Silicone for Maxillofacial Prostheses

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials
ABSTRACTAlthough deterioration of silicone maxillofacial prostheses is severely accentuated in smoking patients, the phenomenon has not been systematically studied. To address a gap in the literature concerning the stability of maxillofacial prostheses during service, in this contribution, the effect of cigarette smoke on the aspect and physical ...
