Shifting Acetylene Hydrochlorination From the Gas to the Liquid Phase: Vinyl Chloride Production in Bichloride‐Based Ionic Liquids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Combining the bichloride‐based ionic liquid [NEt3Me][Cl(HCl)n] with PdCl2 results in the formation of the highly active, mercury‐free catalyst [NEt3Me]2[PdCl4] for acetylene hydrochlorination to vinyl chloride. Replacing HCl with the bichloride improves the process safety and achieves a competitive turnover frequency of 110 molVCM h−1 molPdCl2−1.

Revisiting the Maxim-Law Dynamic in the Light of Kant’s Theory of Action

open access: yesКантовский сборник, 2019
A stable classification of practical principles into mutually exclusive types is foundational to Kant’s moral theory. Yet, other than a few brief hints on the distinction between maxims and laws, he does not provide any elaborate discussion on the ...

The Maximization Inventory

open access: yesJudgment and Decision Making, 2012
AbstractWe present the Maximization Inventory, which consists of three separate scales: decision difficulty, alternative search, and satisficing. We show that the items of the Maximization Inventory have much better psychometric properties when compared to the original Maximization Scale (Schwartz et al., 2002).

Equivalence of utilitarian maximal and weakly maximal programs [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Economics, 2010
Abstract For a class of aggregative optimal growth models, which allow for a non-convex and non-differentiable production technology, this paper examines whether the set of utilitarian maximal programs coincides with the set of weakly maximal programs. It identifies a condition, called the Phelps–Koopmans condition, under which the equivalence result

A Contradiction of the Right Kind: Convenience Killing and Kant’s Formula of Universal Law [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
One of the most important difficulties facing Kant’s Formula of Universal Law (FUL) is its apparent inability to show that it is always impermissible to kill others for the sake of convenience.

Minimally Invasive, Bioadaptive Multimodal Sensor Probe with Safe Deployment for Real‐Time Acute Compartment Syndrome Diagnosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A soft, minimally invasive multimodal sensor probe integrates intracompartmental pressure, tissue oxygen saturation, and blood flow sensors into a single platform. By enabling precise measurements and capturing correlations among pressure, oxygenation, and vascular dynamics, the system provides a comprehensive physiological assessment, thereby ...

Structural and Conceptual Features of the Existential Discourse in the Literary Text (on the basis of the Story by A.P. Chekhov “The Duel”)

open access: yesIzvestiâ Ûžnogo Federalʹnogo Universiteta: Filologičeskie Nauki, 2019

MAXIMAL COACTIONS

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics, 2004
A coaction δ of a locally compact group G on a C*-algebra A is maximal if a certain natural map from [Formula: see text] onto [Formula: see text] is an isomorphism. All dual coactions on full crossed products by group actions are maximal; a discrete coaction is maximal if and only if A is the full cross-sectional algebra of the corresponding Fell ...

COPD: maximization of bronchodilation [PDF]

open access: yesMultidisciplinary Respiratory Medicine, 2014
The most recent guidelines define COPD in a multidimensional way, nevertheless the diagnosis is still linked to the limitation of airflow, usually measured by the reduction in the FEV1/FVC ratio below 70%. However, the severity of obstruction is not directly correlated to symptoms or to invalidity determined by COPD.
