Summary: The purpose of this paper is to analyze the maxima properties (value and position) of some data structures. Our theorems concern the distribution of these random variables. Previously known results usually dealt with the mean and sometimes the variance of the random variables. Many of our results rely on diffusion techniques.

Abstract The diurnal cycle of surface ozone concentrations is examined with emphasis on the meteorological processes during the nighttime period. It is shown that the nocturnal ozone maxima observed in ozone episode areas can be correlated with vertical mixing of the remnant daytime boundary layer.

Aufgaben, in denen es sich um groste und kleinste Werte handelt, oder Maximum- und Minimumaufgaben sind vielleicht reizvoller als andere mathematische Aufgaben von ahnlichem Niveau, und das mag einem ganz primitiven Grund zuzuschreiben sein. Jeder hat seine personlichen Probleme.
