In the paper under review, maximal nonsingular plane curves defined over a finite field with \(q^2\) elements are studied. A maximal curve is defined to be a curve such that the number of its rational points attains the Hasse-Weil bound. The authors prove that the degree \(d\) of such a curve is either \(d=q+1\) or \(2d\leq q+2\) if \(q>5\).

On a characterization of certain maximal curves
Let \(X\) denote a maximal curve over the field \({\mathbb F}_{q^2}\), and let \(p\) denote the characteristic of this field. If there exists a rational point \(P\) on \(X\) and a function \(y\in {\mathbb F}_{q^2}(X)\) with \((y)_\infty=mP\), where \(m| (q+1)\), then \textit{R.~Fuhrmann}, \textit{F.~Torres}, and the second author [J.

A new family of maximal curves
In this article we construct for any prime power $q$ and odd $n \ge 5$, a new $\mathbb{F}_{q^{2n}}$-maximal curve $\mathcal X_n$. Like the Garcia--G\" uneri--Stichtenoth maximal curves, our curves generalize the Giulietti--Korchmáros maximal curve, though in a different way. We compute the full automorphism group of $\mathcal X_n$, yielding that it has

Abolition of sagittal T7–T10 dynamics during forced ventilation in AIS patients with Lenke 1A curves
In healthy subjects, respiratory maximal volumes are highly dependent on the sagittal range of motion of the T7–T10 segment. In AIS, the abolition of T7–T10 dynamics related to the stiffness induced by the apex region in Lenke IA curves could harm ...

Osmotic fragility of erythrocytes of bream Abramis brama (L.) from Zalew Szczeciński [PDF]
Studies on erythrocytes fragility of bream Abramis brama (L.) originating from Zalew Szczeciński proved that maximal hemolysis takes place in solution of 0.25% NaCl and minimal in 0.55%.

Growth of the colon and rectum throughout gestation: evaluation with fetal MRI
Background Congenital abnormalities of the gastrointestinal tract are increasingly being evaluated by prenatal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). However, there is a paucity of reports describing the normal quantitative development of the fetal colon and ...
