On the Number of Elements of Maximal Order in a Group

The American Mathematical Monthly, 2019
In this note we show that a group with a finite number of elements of maximal order must be finite. In other words, there are no infinite groups with finitely many elements of maximal order.

Maximizing elements for your genome

Science, 2020
Metabolic Genomics The accumulation of mutations is typically limited by selective parameters. One such parameter is the elements needed to build proteins and molecules to maintain cells. Examining the underlying carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen content for different amino acids, Shenhav et al.

Essential Stability of Solutions for Maximal Element Theorem with Applications

Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, 2011
In this paper, the essential stability of solutions for the maximal element theorem is examined proving that most problems in the sense of Baire category are essential. As immediate applications, one deduces the existence of essential components for Ky Fan's points sets and Nash equilibria.

Fixed Points and Maximal Elements

2003
In a finite or in an infinite dimensional setting, every general competitive equilibrium existence proof lies on a fixed point theorem. Our aim in this chapter is to give a systematic account of some topics in fixed point theory that lie on the border line of topology and equilibrium theory.
