Lung volumes and expiratory flow limitation during exercise in interstitial lung disease
Lung volumes were measured at rest and during exercise by an open-circuit N2-washout technique in patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD). Exercise tidal flow-volume (F-V) curves were also compared with maximal F-V curves to investigate whether ...

Summary Cerebral macrovasculopathy (CV) is a major complication in children with sickle cell anaemia (SCA) and usually requires a long‐term transfusion programme (TP) to prevent stroke. This study aimed to identify factors predicting reversal of CV on TP in a single‐centre newborn cohort. Among 375 patients, 50 presented CV and received TP.

Controllable Intrinsic Surface Pattern Generation Using Slime Mold Simulations
Abstract Surface‐based pattern simulations have proven valuable for texture design and scientific visualization, but existing methods face several limitations. Most simulations either target a narrow range of pattern types (e.g. spots, branching) or support a broad range of patterns at the cost of time‐consuming parameter tuning.

Prediction of maximal expiratory flow in excised human lungs
The predictions of the wave-speed theory of flow limitations were tested against measured values of maximal expiratory flow (Vmax) in nine normal excised human lungs.

How Regulatory Costs Impede Financial Technology Gains
ABSTRACT While financial technology innovation lowers intermediation costs, regulatory frictions may prevent these gains from reaching long‐term investors and borrowers. Using variation in retail investor participation driven by state securities registration lapses in peer‐to‐peer lending, we demonstrate that regulatory frictions are associated with ...

How Does Progressivity Affect the Tax Cut Multiplier?
ABSTRACT How does the targeting of personal income tax cuts affect the output multiplier? This paper provides quantitative evidence using a heterogeneous‐agent New‐Keynesian model calibrated to match US distributions of income, wealth, marginal tax rates, and marginal propensities to consume.

Striking for a Just Transition? North American Auto Unions and the Electric Vehicle Transition
ABSTRACT Decarbonization heightens risks for workers, but union strategies shape how these risks are managed and whether new jobs offer quality employment. This paper compares U.S. and Canadian auto unions during the 2023 Detroit Three bargaining, focusing on strategic capacities and internal politics to explain their divergent responses to the EV ...

You Can't Always Get What You Want? Collective Bargaining Demands and Outcomes
ABSTRACT Trade union demands are a key input for collective bargaining negotiations (CBNs). However, there is little quantitative evidence on these demands and how they shape CBN outcomes. We digitize novel data on union demands for wages and non‐wage amenities to examine the relationship between demands and outcomes in German CBNs from 1993 to 2019 ...
