Maximum expiratory flow changes induced by longitudinal tension on trachea in normal subjects
Maximal expiratory flow (Vmax) was noticed to increase in some subjects during neck hypertension. Maximal expiratory flow volume (MEFV) curves were obtained in 15 normal young subjects at regular and hyperextended neck posture.

Steady expiratory flow in dog lungs: an isovolume preparation
By supplying air and other gases through discs glued to the pleural surface, we studied steady expiratory flow at constant volume. Dog lungs were studied at constant PA - Ppl (alveolar minus pleural pressure) of 7 to 10 cmH2O, as increasing flow was ...

International audienceSeveral studies have shown that respiratory muscle strength may be improved by aquatic physical activities in adults. This fact seem to be involved in the alterations of airway resistance or maximal expiratory flow-volume in ...

Age-related changes in the respiratory system [PDF]
This article summarises the main structural and physiological changes which take place in the lung from young adulthood to senescence. An understanding of these changes helps the clinician to correctly interpret some results of radiology and pulmonary ...

Determinants of maximal expiratory flow and density dependence in normal humans
There is a large variability in maximal expiratory flow (V) and density dependence (DD) in normal humans. Lung mechanics and flow-volume curves were obtained in 40 normal males while they breathed air or helium-oxygen (80%-20%). Static lung recoil (Pst)

Additional file 1: Figure S1. The relationship between RCEXP and maximal mid-expiratory flow rate (MMF). To a certain extent, RCEXP is sociated with MMF with an R2 value of 0.3154 (P < 0.001). There is a gradual increase in RCEXP, especially when MMF is below approximately 1.0 L/s. Figure S2.

Exercise response and the effect of supplemental oxygen during interval training on O2 uptake kinetics, blood lactate levels, and endurance performance in patients with mild, moderate and severe cystic fibrosis [PDF]
Background: Exercise performance is reduced in individuals with moderate to severe cystic fibrosis (CF). A ventilatory mechanical limitation, arterial hypoxemia, cardiovascular abnormalities, alteration in O2 uptake kinetics and reduced muscle ...
