Variational composition of a monotone operator and a linear mapping with applications to elliptic PDEs with singular coefficients

open access: yes, 2003
This paper proposes a regularized notion of a composition of a monotone operator with a linear mapping. This new concept, called variational composition, can be shown to be maximal monotone in many cases where the usual composition is not.

Molecular Dynamics Studies of Shape Memory Polymers: From Bead–Spring Models to Atomistic Simulations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Coarse‐grained (left) and atomistic (right) models of the shape memory polymer ESTANE ETE 75DT3 are shown schematically. The two representations bridge molecular detail and mesoscopic description. Both models capture shape memory behavior, linking segmental mobility and conformational relaxation of anisotropic chains to macroscopic recovery, and ...

Rockafellar’s celebrated theorem based on A -maximal monotonicity design

open access: yes, 2008
A generalization to Rockafellar’s theorem (1976) in the context of approximating a solution to a general inclusion problem involving a set-valued A-maximal monotone mapping using the proximal point algorithm in a Hilbert space setting is presented ...

Encyclopedia of 2D β′‐In2Se3 Growth Using Chemical Vapor Deposition: The Effects of Synthesis Parameters Onto Material Quality

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

Existence Theorems on Solvability of Constrained Inclusion Problems and Applications

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2018
Let X be a real locally uniformly convex reflexive Banach space with locally uniformly convex dual space X⁎. Let T:X⊇D(T)→2X⁎ be a maximal monotone operator and C:X⊇D(C)→X⁎ be bounded and continuous with D(T)⊆D(C).

The forward–backward splitting methods for variational inequalities and minimization problems in Banach spaces

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2019
This paper is concerned with the study of a class of forward–backward splitting methods based on Lyapunov distance for variational inequalities and convex minimization problem in Banach spaces.

Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Noncoercive Perturbed Densely Defined Operators and Application to Parabolic Problems

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2015
Let X be a real locally uniformly convex reflexive separable Banach space with locally uniformly convex dual space X∗. Let T:X⊇D(T)→2X∗ be maximal monotone and S:X⊇D(S)→X∗ quasibounded generalized pseudomonotone such that there exists a real reflexive ...

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Simple form of a projection set in hybrid iterative schemes for non-linear mappings, application of inequalities and computational experiments

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2018
Some relaxed hybrid iterative schemes for approximating a common element of the sets of zeros of infinite maximal monotone operators and the sets of fixed points of infinite weakly relatively non-expansive mappings in a real Banach space are presented ...
