Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Assessment of mercury concentration in pike (Esox Lucius) and the evaluation of potential human health risks due to its consumption, Anzali wetland [PDF]

open access: yesبوم‌شناسی آبزیان, 2019
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mercury concentration of pike muscle and its potential consumption risk. Daily, weekly, and monthly maximum allowable consumption were calculated for children and adults. The average mercury concentration was

The Great Escape II: Exoplanet Ejection from Dying Multiple Star Systems

open access: yes, 2012
Extrasolar planets and belts of debris orbiting post-main-sequence single stars may become unbound as the evolving star loses mass. In multiple star systems, the presence or co-evolution of the additional stars can significantly complicate the prospects ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Skylab atmospheric contamination control [PDF]

open access: yes
The Skylab contamination removal systems, preflight analysis and testing, and flight results are described. Results indicate that the combination of materials selection, the onboard removal devices, and the offgassing tests proved to be an effective ...

Determination of maximum allowable concentration and LC50 96h of Sefidroud River sediments for Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) fingerlings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The impact of Sefidroud River sediments on the fingerlings of Persian Sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) was studied in 2005. The tests were done in 20 liter aquariums each containing 10 Persian Sturgeons fingerlings weighing 3-5 grams each.

Redox regulation meets metabolism: targeting PRDX2 to prevent hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PRDX2 acts as a central redox hub linking metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatohepatitis (MASH) to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In normal hepatocytes, PRDX2 maintains redox balance and metabolic homeostasis under oxidative stress. In contrast, during malignant transformation, PRDX2 promotes oncogenic signaling, stemness, and tumor initiation ...

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.
