Inferring Entropy Production in Many-Body Systems Using Nonequilibrium Maximum Entropy
We propose a method for inferring entropy production (EP) in high-dimensional stochastic systems, including many-body systems and non-Markovian systems with long memory. Standard techniques for estimating EP become intractable in such systems due to computational and statistical limitations.

The evolutionary approach to entropy: Reconciling Georgescu-Roegen's natural philosophy with the maximum entropy framework [PDF]
In Georgescu-Roegen's classical, though controversial discussion of entropy in relation to economics, the dualism of mechanical and subjective time plays a pivotal role.

The minimum local cross-entropy criterion for inferring risk-neutral price distributions from traded options prices [PDF]
A quantity known as the Local Cross-Entropy (LCE) for a density is proposed, defined to be the local derivative of the Cross-Entropy between a density and a ’kernel-smoothed’ version of itself, with respect to bandwidth of the smoothing.

ABSTRACT Introduction Glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs) have demonstrated significant weight‐reducing effects and may offer benefits in idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH); however, recent concerns about the risk of non‐arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) have emerged.

The Lucky Engine: Probabilistic Emergence and Persistence of Near-Maximum Dissipation States
A paradigm, wherein a nonequilibrium system has multiple modes of transport that can act in combination, permits the resolution of several difficulties with the notion of maximum entropy production (MaxEP or MEP). First, physical constraints, such as the

Estimating income mobility in Colombia using maximum entropy econometrics.: [PDF]
Income mobility can be viewed as a first-order Markov process, with a matrix of transition probabilities which measure how individuals move from an income status in time t to a new status in time t+1. Direct estimation of transition matrices is difficult,

ABSTRACT Objective Neurochemical levels measured by brain MR spectroscopy (MRS) have been proposed as endpoints for clinical trials in early‐stage spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) trials. We tested their trial‐readiness by quantifying neurochemicals in three affected brain regions in early‐stage cohorts of SCA2 and SCA3, examining their reproducibility in ...

Multicollinearity and maximum entropy leuven estimator [PDF]
Multicollinearity is a serious problem in applied regression analysis. Q. Paris (2001) introduced the MEL estimator to resolve the multicollinearity problem.

Digital Cognitive Phenotyping for Differential Diagnosis and Monitoring in Neurological Conditions
ABSTRACT Objective To assess the utility, accessibility, and equivalence to supervised scales of online cognitive assessment in older individuals with cognitive impairment. Methods Patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD, n = 31), idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH, n = 26), and traumatic brain injury (TBI, n = 23) completed online cognitive ...

Life and Evolution in Terms of Maximum Entropy Production Principle
Maximum entropy production principle (MEPP) has been formulated in the mid-twentieth century, and today it has acquired the status of an important principle of science, which is extremely effective in considering various non-equilibrium problems. In this study, for the first time, definition of life is based on an easily measurable physical quantity ...
