Geometry‐Based Scan Curve Analysis: Rapid Method for the Evaluation of Scan Strategies in Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents rapid evaluation methods for scan strategies in powder bed fusion (PBF) of polymers with a NIR laser as an example for its application. It uses line buffer‐based calculations and point density fields to predict the performance of four different scan strategies. The methods show promising results in laser‐based PBF of polymer samples,

Maximum Likelihood

2012
The maximum likelihood method is a popular statistical inferential procedure widely used in many areas to obtain the estimates of the unknown parameters of a population of interest. This chapter gives a brief description of the important concepts underlying the maximum likelihood method, the definition of the key components, the basic theory of the ...

Maximum likelihood for parasitologists

Parasitology Today, 1994
In quantitative biology, observed data are fitted to a model that captures the essence of the system under investigation in order to obtain estimates of the parameters of the model, as well as their standard errors and interactions. The fitting is best done by the method of maximum likelihood, though least-squares fits are often used as an ...

Maximum-Likelihood-Schätzung [PDF]

open access: possible, 2009

Maximum-likelihood crystallization

Journal of Structural Biology, 2003
The crystallization facility of the TB Structural Genomics Consortium, one of nine NIH-sponsored structural genomics pilot projects, employs a combinatorial random sampling technique in high-throughput crystallization screening. Although data are still sparse and a comprehensive analysis cannot be performed at this stage, preliminary results appear to ...

Restoring with Maximum Likelihood and Maximum Entropy*

Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1972
Given M sampled image values of an incoherent object, what can be deduced as the most likely object? Using a communication-theory model for the process of image formation, we find that the most likely object has a maximum entropy and is represented by a restoring formula that is positive and not band limited.
