Tailoring Functional Properties of Ti–Ni–Cu Shape Memory Alloy Thin Films for MEMS Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A comprehensive study of critical parameters required to develop well‐performing Ti–Ni–Cu thin film shape memory alloy microactuators is provided. Materials science and device integration aspects are integrated by addressing structural and physical relationships using complementary characterization techniques as well as a practical fabrication solution

Analysis of Structural Responses of a Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine at Maximum Aerodynamic Performance [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied and Computational Mechanics
This numerical analysis investigates the interplay between fluid dynamics and structural mechanics within a horizontal axis wind turbine. Tip speeds ranging from 1 to 8.1 are explored, focusing on blade structural responses at maximum aerodynamic ...

The maximum modulus principle

open access: yes, 2018
Magistrsko delo obravnava princip največje absolutne vrednosti, ki predstavlja pomemben rezultat v kompleksni analizi. Izraz princip največje absolutne vrednosti pravzaprav predstavlja skupek izrekov, ki govorijo o največji absolutni vrednosti holomorfne

Local Maximum Modulus Property for Polyanalytic Functions

open access: yes, 2016
Let be an open subset and let be a space of functions defined on . is said to have the local maximum modulus property if: for every and for every sufficiently small domain with it holds true that where denotes the set of points at which attains strict ...

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

Estimation of Resilient Modulus for Coarse-Grained Subgrade Soils from Quick Shear Tests for Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Designs

open access: yesDesigns, 2019
The resilient modulus represents the subgrade soil stiffness, and it is considered one of the key material inputs in the Mechanistic Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG).

Complex vector fields, unique continuation and the maximum modulus principle

open access: yes, 2012
We prove unique continuation and maximum modulus principle for solutions to systems of differential equations and inequalities, involving complex vector fields, under conditions that generalize some weak-pseudoconcavity assumptions for the tangential ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
