THE INFLUENCE OF ALTITUDE ON THE LIMIT TIME OF MAINTAINING THE SPEED OF RUNNING AT VO2MAX (TLIMVO2MAX), FOR FOOTBALLERS

Double Maximum Ratios of Viruses to Bacteria in the Water Column: Implications for Different Regulating Mechanisms

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2019
The viruses play an important role in limiting bacterial abundance in oceans and, hence, in regulating bacterial biogeochemical functions. A cruise was conducted in September 2005 along a transect in the deep South China Sea (SCS). The results showed the

AscF in the mycobacterial CIII–CIV supercomplex lacks metal and nucleotide binding but links malate oxidation to respiration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The mycobacterial CIII‐CIV respiratory supercomplex is an obligate assembly, encompassing several subunits of unknown functions. We have characterized the intracellular subunit AscF, and show that it is unlikely to be a sensor for metals or nucleotides, but is required for growth on nonfermentable energy sources, and likely works as an adapter for ...

Maximum oxygen consumption rate and dihydrogenated ergot alkaloids in humans. [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Sports Medicine, 1984
The relationship of maximal oxygen uptake (VO2 max) with dihydrogenated ergot alkaloids was investigated in twelve young men. They were subjected to graded bicycle exercise with work loads corresponding to 75% and 120% of the load necessary to elicit VO2 max. The exercise tests were performed after intravenous administration of 2 mg dihydroergostin (DE-

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Predicting maximum oxygen consumption based on anthropometric dimensions in medical emergency students

open access: yesSalāmat-i kār-i Īrān, 2018
Background and aims: Body anthropometric dimensions are among the factors affecting the maximum oxygen consumption. This study aimed to predict maximum oxygen consumption based on anthropometric dimensions in medical emergency students.

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Femoral metadiaphyseal and nutrient foramen perfusion suggests comparable maximal metabolic rates in a pterosaur and in a semi-aquatic maniraptoran dinosaur [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ
Ornithodirans represent a diverse and highly successful clade that encompasses a wide array of morphologies and ecological adaptations. This group includes volant forms such as Rhamphorhynchus, a medium-sized, non-pterodactyloid long-tailed pterosaur ...

Lipopolysaccharide uptake is augmented in lipopolysaccharide‐tolerant mouse macrophage‐like cells via increased CD14 expression

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In normal (nontolerant) cells, CD14 is crucial for both LPS uptake and LPS signaling. In LPS‐tolerant cells, in which LPS‐induced TNF‐α and IFN‐β production is suppressed, there is a dramatic increase in surface CD14 expression. The overexpressed CD14 in LPS‐tolerant cells is responsible for the enhanced LPS uptake without inducing pro‐inflammatory ...
