A Novel Flower Pollination Based Global Maximum Power Point Method for Solar Maximum Power Point Tracking

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2017
To maximize solar photovoltaic (PV) output under dynamic weather conditions, maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controllers are incorporated in solar PV systems. However, the occurrence of multiple peaks due to partial shading adds complexity to the tracking process.

VHDL implementation of Maximum Power Point Tracking algorithms

2013 IEEE 20th International Conference on Electronics, Circuits, and Systems (ICECS), 2013
Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithms are used to track the Maximum Power Point (MPP) of photovoltaic (PV) arrays. Different Algorithms have been introduced, in order to enhance the performance: the tracking speed, oscillations around the MPP, and PV limitations due to partial shading. In this paper, the Perturb and Observe (P&O) and the Three

Integrated photovoltaic maximum power point tracking converter

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 1997
A low-power low-cost highly efficient maximum power point tracker (MPPT) to be integrated into a photovoltaic (PV) panel is proposed. This can result in a 25% energy enhancement compared to a standard photovoltaic panel, while performing functions like battery voltage regulation and matching of the PV array with the load. Instead of using an externally

Analytic Solution to the Photovoltaic Maximum Power Point Problem

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I: Regular Papers, 2007
Photovoltaic (PV) power has been successfully used for over five decades. Whether in dc or ac form, photovoltaic cells provide power for systems in many applications on earth and space. Its principles of operation are therefore well understood, and circuit equivalents have been developed that accurately model the nonlinear relationship between the ...

Maximum Power Point Tracking Techniques

2016
An essential objective for many photovoltaic (PV) applications is represented by the so‐called maximum power point tracking (MPPT). Under uniform irradiance and ambient temperature conditions, the power versus voltage characteristic of a PV array is characterized by the presence of a unique point, termed maximum power point (MPP), where the power ...

A Trade-Off between the Maximum Power Point and Stability

IEICE Transactions on Fundamentals of Electronics, Communications and Computer Sciences, 2011
This paper studies a switched dynamical system based on the boost converter with a solar cell input. The solar cell is modeled by a piecewise linear current-controlled voltage source. A variant of peak-current-controlled switching is used in the boost converter. Applying the mapping procedure, the system dynamics can be analyzed precisely.

A solar battery charger with maximum power point tracking

2011 18th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits, and Systems, 2011
This paper presents a solar charger ASIC for Li-Ion and Nickel-based (NiCd or NiMH) batteries. The system is a DC/DC converter that operates the solar panel at its maximum power point by tracking it using a hill-climbing algorithm. Only one external inductor and one diode are necessary. The circuit is fabricated in a 0.5μm 5V process. It features a low

Adaptive Maximum Power Point Tracking Algorithm for Photovoltaic Power Systems

IEICE Transactions on Communications, 2010
This paper presents an adaptive maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm. The aim is to dynamically adjust the step length for updating duty ratio (or operating voltage) so as to make full utilization of the output power of photovoltaic (PV) systems, even under the rapidly changing atmospheric conditions. To this end, the average slope in terms of

Photo-voltaic power converter with a simple maximum-power-point-tracker

Proceedings of the 2003 International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003. ISCAS '03., 2003
A simple power conditioner to convert the power available from solar panels for feeding into 60 Hz AC mains is described. The output from the solar panels will be converted into a regulated DC voltage using a boost converter and a large capacitor. The DC output will then be converted to 60 Hz AC using a bridge inverter.
