Efficiency of three-terminal thermoelectric transport under broken-time reversal symmetry

open access: yes, 2013
We investigate thermoelectric efficiency of systems with broken time reversal symmetry under a three-terminal transport. Using a model of Aharonov-Bohm interferometer formed with three noninteracting quantum dots, we show that Carnot efficiency can be ...

Nitride‐Reinforced Metal Matrix Nanocomposite Powders Production by Plasma‐Assisted Thermochemical Treatment of Intermetallic Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes a new methodology for producing metal matrix nanocomposites in the solid state. The process involves the plasma‐assisted thermochemical treatment of metallic alloy powders. As a proof‐of‐concept, TiN nanoparticles are synthesized directly on the surface of FeTi intermetallic powder particles, enabling the development of the ...

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

Spatial Interference Cancelation for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks: Perfect CSI

open access: yes, 2008
Interference between nodes directly limits the capacity of mobile ad hoc networks. This paper focuses on spatial interference cancelation with perfect channel state information (CSI), and analyzes the corresponding network capacity.

MAXIMUM ACTIVE POWER TRANSMISSION EFFICIENCY AND POWER FACTOR DEFINITION IN HYBRID SYSTEMS WITH ARBITRARY WAVEFORMS

open access: yesLatin American Applied Research - An international journal, 2023
Based on a theorem giving the maximum available active power with constant transmission losses valid for arbitrary waveforms it is possible rigorously generalize the definitions of power factor based on the definition of apparent power as the maximum power available. Then it could be applied to systems with non-symmetric, non-sinusoidal, and eventually
