Bayesian Calibration of Dynamic Models of Earthquake Sequences Using Observations From Past Large Earthquakes

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 11, November 2026.
Abstract Physics‐based models of the earthquake cycle could be used for time‐dependent hazard assessment. For such an application, their parameters must be calibrated so that simulated earthquake sequences reproduce the statistics of past earthquakes, including recurrence statistics and magnitudes. This is challenging because the dynamics are described

Foliation of null cones by surfaces of constant spacetime mean curvature near MOTS

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 114, Issue 5, November 2026.
Abstract Marginally outer trapped surfaces (MOTS) in spacetimes are well‐known to indicate the existence of black holes. Using flow techniques, we prove that a neighbourhood of a stable MOTS in a null cone may be foliated by hypersurfaces of constant spacetime mean curvature.

Fracture Modeling of Nearly Incompressible Hyperelastic Materials: A Phase‐Field Approach via Simo–Taylor–Pister Three‐Field Variation

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 127, Issue 19, 15 October 2026.
ABSTRACT Incompressibility is commonly observed in the majority of hyperelastic materials, which are fundamental to a wide range of technical applications owing to their distinctive properties, particularly their flexibility, stretchability, and resilience.

Euler-Lagrange prolongations of Maxwell PDEs

open access: yes, 2020
. This paper describes the least squares approximations of the solutions of Maxwell PDEs via their Euler-Lagrange prolongations. We analyze the problem of best approximation point, i.e., point which achieves the minimum distance between a fixed point and

A Unified Block‐Modal Framework for Inverse Source Problems in Heat and Mass Transfer

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 127, Issue 19, 15 October 2026.
ABSTRACT This work presents a unified block–modal framework for inverse source identification in linear diffusive problems arising in heat and mass transfer. Starting from a general parabolic model with mixed boundary operators, the Classical Integral Transform Technique is employed to project the dynamics onto an orthonormal eigenbasis, yielding a ...

New strong maximum and comparison principles for fully nonlinear degenerate elliptic PDEs

open access: yes
We introduce a notion of subunit vector field for fully nonlinear degenerate elliptic equations. We prove that an interior maximum of a viscosity subsolution of such an equation propagates along the trajectories of subunit vector fields.

Potential type operators in PDEs and their applications

open access: yes, 2017
We prove the boundedness of Potential operator in weighted generalized Morrey space in terms of Matuszewska-Orlicz indices of weights and apply this result to the Hemholtz equation in ℝ3 with a free term in such a space.
