Study on Maximum Scour Depth at River Reach of Shantou Bay Subsea Tunnel Project

open access: yesRenmin Zhujiang, 2022
This paper studies the flow pattern and riverbed scouring at the river reach of Shantou Bay Subsea Tunnel Project through the river model test and analyzes the maximum scour depth of the riverbed near the project under unfavorable hydrological conditions.

Refining the timing of Middle Pleistocene (MIS 12 to MIS 6) ice advances into northern central Europe: sedimentological analysis and single‐grain luminescence dating of glaciotectonic complexes and tunnel‐valley fills

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
We summarize the current state of knowledge on the age of the Middle Pleistocene ice advances into northern central Europe and provide 25 new single‐grain feldspar luminescence ages of Elsterian and Saalian glacigenic sediments to constrain the age of the ice advances and their tentative correlation with marine isotope stages/substages.

Changing climates and environments within the complex Middle to Late Pleistocene fill of an overdeepened valley at Niederweningen, Switzerland

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Glacially overdeepened valleys in the northern Alpine Foreland preserve Middle to Late Pleistocene sedimentary sequences that may serve as valuable archives for reconstructing past environmental changes in response to shifts in climate. This study presents a multidisciplinary analysis of two sediment cores from the overdeepened Wehntal Valley at ...

Physical and numerical modeling for the investigation of downstream scour caused by sudden blockage in circular and box culvert inlets [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Research in Water and Wastewater
This paper presents a comprehensive experimental and numerical study using non-cohesive uniform sand (d50 = 2 mm). The study investigates the impact of local scour downstream of four model culverts with different barrel shapes and inlet blockage sizes ...

Towards an ‘absolute’ timing of biostratigraphic and environmental phases from the Saalian late glacial to the Weichselian pleniglacial in central Europe—Insights from a lacustrine succession in Lichtenberg, northern Germany

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Palynological records are central to the biostratigraphic subdivision of the Late Pleistocene in central Europe. Yet many interglacial and interstadial phases—such as the Eemian, Brörup and Odderade—remain only poorly constrained in time due to limited numerical dating.

Wave–Current Force Characteristics of Monopile Foundations on Scoured Seabeds

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Local scour around offshore wind turbine foundations is a common engineering challenge. It changes the hydrodynamic loads and affects the foundation’s load-bearing capacity.

Story2Board: A Training‐Free Approach for Expressive Visual Storytelling

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract We present Story2Board, a training‐free framework for expressive storyboard generation from natural language. Existing methods narrowly focus on subject identity, overlooking key aspects of visual storytelling such as spatial composition, background evolution, and narrative pacing.

Assessment of Scour Depth Downstream of Sharp Crested Weirs: An Experimental Study

open access: yesJournal of Engineering
Weirs are hydraulic structures built across open channels to measure the flow and raise the water level. A sharp-crested weir is one type of weir of different configurations.

UrbanClipAtlas: A Visual Analytics Framework for Event and Scene Retrieval in Urban Videos

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Extracting actionable insights from long‐duration urban videos is often labor‐intensive: analysts must manually sift through raw footage to pinpoint target events or uncover broader behavioral trends. In this work, we present UrbanClipAtlas, a visual analytics system for exploring long urban videos recorded at street intersections ...

Channel deformation around non-submerged spur dikes with different alignment angles under ice cover

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics
This study explores how the ice cover on water surfaces affects the deformation of the channel bed around non-submerged spur dikes. Laboratory experiments have been conducted by using two types of model ice cover with different roughness coefficients and
