MAXIMUM SCOUR DEPTH AT SUBMERGED SKEWED BRIDGE AND PIER
Malaysian Journal of Civil Engineering, 2018Maximum local scour depth around pier due to the submerged skewed bridge along with its rectangular pier under clear water condition has been experimentally studied. In present study, twenty four tests were carried out including; six various aligned bridge models with the different angles such as; 0, 5, 10, 15, 22.5 and 30 degree to the presumptive ...

Bar height formulas to predict the maximum scour depth at riverbanks
2004FIoods in alluvial rivers are characterized by channels incision in the alluvial bed during the rising stage and their fìlling up in the falling stage; this phenomenon is well known and called scour and fill. In this work scour and fill during floods will be described as bar migration in the alluvial bed: when bar trough reaches the riverbank ...

Maximum Local Scour Depth at Bridge Piers under Unsteady Flow
Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2009The temporal effect of hydrograph on local scour depth is investigated under clear-water scour condition. By analyzing the characteristics of scour-depth evolutions at bridge piers for different rising hydrographs, a relation for estimating the maximum scour depth in uniform sediment is proposed.

Efficacy of Marine Electrical Resistivity Surveys to Determine Maximum Scour Depth and Scour Infill
Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research BoardThe maximum depth of bridge scour typically occurs during peak flood conditions when it is too dangerous to collect measurements. Often, the maximum depth is obscured by additional redeposited sediment. Applied geophysical methods are commonly used to detect the depth of scour infill and estimate maximum scour depth.

Effects of Pile Cap Thickness on the Maximum Scour Depth at a Complex Pier
Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, 2013An experimental campaign of 21 long-duration tests on scouring at complex piers of different configurations was performed to investigate the effect of pile cap thickness on the temporal evolution of the maximum scour depth and the development of equilibrium conditions. Two test series were performed with two significantly different pile cap thicknesses

Prediction of Maximum Scour Depth at Bed Sills
1999Bed sills are sometimes built to limit the amount of material eroded from degrading streams. The construction of these structures leads to the development of local scour downstream of them. The maximum scour depth was evaluated in the past by the authors under the conditions of no sediment feed and uniform bed material.

Three-dimensional numerical flow modeling for estimation of maximum local scour depth
Journal of Hydraulic Research, 1998Water flow is modeled numerically in three dimensions around a circular cylinder placed vertically in a flume. The numerical model solves the Navier-Stokes equations with the k-z turbulence model. This gives the shear stress on the bed. A formula for concentration at the bed as a function of the shear stress is used.
