The Evil Enemy: Belief in Conspiracy Theories Predicts Attitudes to War

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Social Psychology, Volume 55, Issue 7, Page 1420-1435, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Political leaders often justify war with conspiracy theories. How effective are such conspiracy theories in gathering public support for war? The present research has investigated the effects of conspiracy theories on people's war‐related attitudes.

Maxwell’s Demon and Comoving Observers in General Relativity: What Do They Have in Common?

open access: yesProceedings, 2017
We elaborate on the similarities between the explanation of the well known Maxwell’s demon paradox, based on the theory of information, and the rationale behind the fact that real dissipative (entropy producing) processes may be detected by non–comoving ...

Second law, entropy production, and reversibility in thermodynamics of information

open access: yes, 2017
We present a pedagogical review of the fundamental concepts in thermodynamics of information, by focusing on the second law of thermodynamics and the entropy production.

Identifying priority areas for conservation to promote connectivity and mitigate the impacts of anthropogenic disturbance

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 39, Issue 6, December 2025.
Abstract As nations seek to expand protected area (PA) networks to cover 30% of land and seas by 2030 (30×30), there is an urgent need for systematic conservation planning and spatial prioritization that considers the broad range of ecological and socioeconomic factors influencing the persistence of biodiversity.

The simplicity of physical laws

open access: yesNoûs, Volume 59, Issue 4, Page 957-987, December 2025.
Abstract Physical laws are strikingly simple, yet there is no a priori reason for them to be so. I propose that nomic realists—Humeans and non‐Humeans—should recognize simplicity as a fundamental epistemic guide for discovering and evaluating candidate physical laws.

Optimizing non-ergodic feedback engines

open access: yes, 2013
Maxwell's demon is a special case of a feedback controlled system, where information gathered by measurement is utilized by driving a system along a thermodynamic process that depends on the measurement outcome.

Modeling the Formation of Electric and Magnetic Fields in Dust Devils

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 130, Issue 21, 16 November 2025.
Abstract Dust devils are a weather phenomenon in which lofted particles become charged through triboelectrification, generating electromagnetic fields. These pose hazards for electronic equipment and affect biological systems. We present a new methodology for simulating the formation of electromagnetic fields within and near dust devils.

Maxwell’s demon in the quantum-Zeno regime and beyond

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
The long-standing paradigm of Maxwell’s demon is till nowadays a frequently investigated issue, which still provides interesting insights into basic physical questions.

Fluctuation Theorems of Brownian Particles Controlled by a Maxwell's Demon

open access: yes, 2006
We study the stochastic dynamics of Brownian particles in a heat bath and subject to an active feedback control by an external, Maxwell's demon-like agent.

Thermoelectric Processes of Quantum Normal‐Superconductor Interfaces

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 537, Issue 11, November 2025.
Recent advances on using mesoscopic normal‐superconductor junctions for the thermoelectric effect is reviewed. A theoretical framework is presented for multiterminal configurations exploiting properties characterised by the interplay of the system reduced dimensionality and superconducting correlations.
