Electrical Conductivities of Conductors, Semiconductors, and Their Mixtures at Elevated Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a comprehensive review of temperature‐dependent electrical conductivity data for multiple material classes at elevated temperatures, highlighting a persistent conductivity gap between metals and semiconductors in the range of 102$\left(10\right)^{2}$– 107$\left(10\right)^{7}$ S/m. Metal–ceramic irregular metamaterials are proposed

Kinematical superspaces

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2019
We classify N =1 d = 4 kinematical and aristotelian Lie superalgebras with spa- tial isotropy, but not necessarily parity nor time-reversal invariance. Employing a quater- nionic formalism which makes rotational covariance manifest and simplifies many of

Higher dimensional charged $f(R)$ black holes

open access: yes, 2012
We construct a new class of higher dimensional black hole solutions of $f(R)$ theory coupled to a nonlinear Maxwell field. In deriving these solutions the traceless property of the energy-momentum tensor of the matter filed plays a crucial role.

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.

Mercury emissions from South Africa’s coal-fired power stations

open access: yesClean Air Journal, 2016
Mercury is a persistent and toxic substance that can be bio-accumulated in the food chain. Natural and anthropogenic sources contribute to the mercury emitted in the atmosphere. Eskom’s coal-fired power stations in South Africa contributed just under 93%

Demonstration of an All‐Optical AND Gate Mediated by Photochromic Molecules

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A logic AND gate that runs on photons is demonstrated. It relies on two spatially separated photochromic molecules that work in tandem. Abstract The realization of a photonic logic AND gate, i.e. a logic AND gate that runs on photons rather than electrons, and where all steps are controlled by light, is demonstrated. In a proof‐of‐principle experiment,

Maxwell's methodology of estimating effective properties: Alive and well.

open access: yesInternational Journal of Engineering Science, 2019
This paper presents a comprehensive review of the far-field-based methodology of estimation of the effective properties of multi-phase composites that was pioneered by Maxwell in 1873 in the context of effective electrical conductivity of a particle ...

Multilayer Soft Photonic Arrays Inspired by Cephalopod Skin for High‐Density, Independent, and Multimodal Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A vertically stacked, DEA‐driven photonic array inspired by cephalopod skin, featuring highly crystalline colloidal crystal gels with vivid color, low FWHM and scalability is presented. The multilayer design removes lateral pixel interference, achieving near‐100% fill factor with fully independent RGB actuation.

Von Neumann Stability Analysis of Finite Difference Schemes for Maxwell--Debye and Maxwell--Lorentz Equations

open access: yes, 2008
This technical report yields detailed calculations of the paper [1] (B. Bid\'egaray-Fesquet, "Stability of FD-TD schemes for Maxwell-Debye and Maxwell-Lorentz equations", Technical report, LMC-IMAG, 2005) which have been however automated since (see http:

Maxwell-Chern-Simons Vortices and Holographic Superconductors

open access: yes, 2010
We investigate probe limit vortex solutions of a charged scalar field in Einstein-Maxwell theory in 3+1 dimensions, for an asymptotically AdS Schwarzschild black hole metric with the addition of an axionic coupling to the Maxwell field.
