Twenty-One Mayfly Gynandromorphic Cases from China
Gynandromorphism of mayfly has unique biological and scientific value. However, most cases of previous studies on this phenomenon were from Europe and America, with only two cases reported from China.

A rare European species, Eurylophella karelica Tiensuu, 1935 (Ephemeroptera: Ephemerellidae) is reported for the first time from Ukraine. The larvae of the species were found within Ukrainian Polissya region in the Pripyat’ River basin.

Do omnivorous shrimp influence mayfly nymph life history traits in a tropical island stream?
Interspecific interactions can play an important role in determining habitat selection and resource use between competing species. We examined interactions between an omnivorous shrimp and a grazing mayfly, two co-dominant taxa found in Puerto Rican ...

First records of Bessierus doloris Thomas & Orth (Ephemeroptera: Leptophlebiidae) in Brazil
We report the first occurrence of Bessierus doloris in Brazil. Additionally, we provide biological and taxonomic information on this species. Male imagos specimens were collected with a Pennsylvania light trap in the Apiaú region, municipality of Mucajaí,

A new species of Bungona in Turkey (Ephemeroptera, Baetidae): an unexpected biogeographic pattern within a pantropical complex of mayflies [PDF]
By using an integrative approach, we describe a new species of mayfly, Bungona (Chopralla) pontica sp. n., from Turkey. The discovery of a representative of the tropical mayfly genus Bungona in the Middle East is rather unexpected.

ABSTRACT Benthic macroinvertebrates are indicators of water quality and riparian ecosystem health. Their abundance and distribution in streams are associated with river basin environmental factors, including stream biotic and abiotic fluvial processes. We examined benthic macroinvertebrate diversity and abundance in relation to large wood (LW) and pool‐

An unseen synchrony or recurrent resource pulse opportunity? linking fisheries with aeroecology
Understanding insect and fish interactions from a spatial and temporal perspective can have implications on large‐scale phenology in freshwater systems, yet current information is limited.

Operational sex ratio bias due to sex‐specific cohort splitting in response to predation
Abstract The operational sex ratio (OSR), that is, the local ratio of fertilizable females to sexually active males at any given time, is of key importance for the strength of sexual selection and the reproduction of populations. We hypothesize that sex‐specific cohort splitting, that is, when one sex mostly metamorphoses while the other mostly enters ...

Abstract Understanding the mechanisms shaping food chain length (FCL) has long been central to food web ecology. FCL is a key determinant of stability, energy flow efficiency, and biodiversity maintenance, but there is an ongoing debate about its underlying drivers.

The use of environmental DNA (eDNA) as the sole input in current machine learning (ML) practices inherently limits the potential of ML for ecosystem biomonitoring and prediction. Using impact prediction across Switzerland's 163 biomonitoring sites as an example, a multimodal ML workflow combining eDNA and biogeographic data is introduced.
