Structural Features of Biomass in a Hybrid MBBR Reactor

Environmental Technology, 2006
The structural features of biomass present in the hybrid MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) aeration tank were studied in two subsequent periods, which differed in hydraulic and substrate loads. The physical characteristics of attached-growth biomass, such as, biofilm thickness, density, porosity, inner and surface fractal dimensions, and those of ...

Experimental study and modeling of denitrification in an MBBR reactor

International Journal of Chemical Reactor Engineering, 2022
Abstract A denitrification mathematical model was used to describe the nitrates and organic carbons use by the denitrify biomass in the Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR). The model integrates the diffusive mass transfer mechanism as well as double substrates Monod kinetics. Preliminary experiments were realized in

The Flow Patterns of Bubble Plume in an MBBR

Journal of Hydrodynamics, 2011
The flow patterns of the gas-liquid two-phase flow in a Moving-Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) have a critical effect upon the mass transfer by the convection. Bubble plumes promote unsteadily fluctuating two-phase flows during the aeration. This article studies the unsteady structure of bubble plumes through experiments. The time-serial bubble plume images

Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR)

2017
In recent years, an increasing interest in biofilm processes for the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewaters has been observed. One of the growing biofilm technologies is the Moving-bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR), which has been successfully established in the market. A great number of large-scale wastewater treatment plants along with many other

CHARACTERIZATION OF NITRIFICATION PERFORMANCE AND MICROBIAL COMMUNITY IN A MBBR AND INTEGRATED GBBR-MBBR TREATING HEAVILY POLLUTED RIVER WATER

Environmental Engineering and Management Journal, 2013
A one-stage aerobic moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) (Reactor A) and a combined reactor (Reactor B) involving an anoxic gravel-bed biofilm reactor (GBBR) and an aerobic MBBR were applied to the treatment of heavily polluted river water. Reactor performance was investigated throughout the experiment for almost 200 days and molecular techniques ...

Diffusion depth: a crucial factor for MBBR carrier

Filtration + Separation, 2017
In the biological wastewater treatment sector, biofilm carriers are increasingly being applied in Moving Bed Biofilm Reactors (MBBR). The diffusion depth is an important consideration when evaluating removal rates and treatment performance of MBBR or biofilm carriers.

Transformation products of clindamycin in moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR)

Water Research, 2017
Clindamycin is widely prescribed for its ability to treat a number of common bacterial infections. Thus, clindamycin enters wastewater via human excretion or disposal of unused medication and widespread detection of pharmaceuticals in rivers proves the insufficiency of conventional wastewater treatment plants in removing clindamycin.

New Applications for MBBR and IFAS Systems

2017
In this extended abstract some of the advances that have been made in MBBR and IFAS systems over the last 10 years are discussed. It is focused on new applications such as MBBR-based processes for nitrogen removal by de-ammonification, biological phosphate removal and MBBR-based membrane bioreactors.

Combined MBBR‐MF for industrial wastewater treatment

Environmental Progress & Sustainable Energy, 2011
AbstractAn assessment of the performance of a combined moving bed biofilm reactor and a membrane filtration (MBBR‐MF) system for treatment of a wastewater from a potato chip factory was performed. Pretreatment of membrane feed by coagulation with alum, ferric chloride, and a blend of polyaluminum chloride and polyamine was investigated for improving ...

The effect of deuteration on the Néel temperature of MbBr . 4H2O

Solid State Communications, 1970
Abstract We have measured a shift of — 1.1% in the Neel temperature of MnBr 2 .4H 2 O resulting from deuterating the salt. The relationship between hydrogen bonding and the superexchange interaction is discussed and the shift compared with that obtained in chemically-similar MnCl 2 .4H 2 O.
