Impact of Positively Charged Backbone Modifications on the Properties of Spherical Nucleic Acids

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A synthesis of spherical nucleic acids (SNAs) featuring cationic backbone modifications is presented, together with an analysis of their emerging properties. Introducing positively charged guanidinium groups near the SNA surface enhances cellular uptake and offers a pathway toward more precise control over SNA internalization.

Regulating Copper Nuclearity in Metal–Organic Frameworks for the Hydrogenation of Carbon Dioxide

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
CO2 hydrogenation on Cu‐metalated MOFs at gas–solid and liquid–solid interfaces depend strongly on the nuclearity of the Cu, which can be adjusted via the density of defects and the synthesis process. In both reaction regimes, methanol formation is favored on Cu clusters rather than on isolated Cu sites, highlighting the critical role of metal ...

High‐Density Iron Nanostructures Grown on Electrospun PVA/Pectin Fibers via Seed‐Mediated Strategy for As(V) Remediation

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
A seed‐assisted anisotropic growth strategy enabling unprecedented iron loading and controlled anisotropic nanostructure formation on electrospun PVA/pectin nanofibers is presented. By decoupling nucleation and growth through sequential Fe2+ then Fe3+ doping, it achieves a 12‐fold increase in accessible iron content, producing rice‐grain‐like ...

Organic and Inorganic Pollutants, Oxidative Stress Biomarkers, and Electrophoretic Protein Profiles in an Endangered Thresher Shark (Alopias vulpinus) From Southeastern Brazil: A Case Study

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A comprehensive screening of different environmental contaminants (total metals, thermostable metal fractions associated with detoxification, and persistent organic pollutants) was conducted in an endangered common thresher shark (Alopias vulpinus ) individual incidentally captured in southeastern Brazil.

Environmental Contaminant Accumulation in Freshwater Turtles Inhabiting Three Rivers of the Permian Basin, New Mexico, USA

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Freshwater turtles are valuable sentinels of aquatic systems due to their long lifespans and resilience in environments impacted by contaminants. The Permian Basin, dominated by the oil and gas sector, spans western Texas and southeastern New Mexico, USA, including the Pecos River and its tributaries, the Delaware and Black Rivers.
