A Pouch‐Cell Low‐Temperature All‐Organic Sodium‐Ion Battery

open access: yesSmartMat, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
A nickel‐based conjugated coordination polymer (Ni‐DHNQ) cathode, designed with high conductivity and structural stability, enables ultrafast charging and ultralong cycling. When integrated into an all‐organic sodium‐ion pouch cell, it delivers exceptional 87% capacity retention at −40°C, showcasing its potential for sustainable energy storage in ...

Carbonate‐Associated Sulfate Does Not Record Superheavy δ34S in Deep Scandinavian Bedrock Fractures: Implications for Pyrite Formation in the Deep Biosphere

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract In deep bedrock fractures of the Fennoscandian shield, pyrite with “superheavy” δ34S values of up to 147‰ exists together with calcite. The extreme variability and 34S‐enrichment in pyrite indicate that microbial sulfate reduction (MSR) evolved to almost complete sulfate exhaustion in closed‐system microenvironments.

Tracing Continental Basalt Sources and Mantle Processes Using Fe Stable Isotopes

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Iron (Fe) isotopes have emerged as powerful tracers of mantle source heterogeneity and melting processes, yet the mechanisms producing heavy Fe isotope signatures (high δ57Fe values) in intraplate basalts remain debated. Competing interpretations include partial melting of recycled pyroxenite domains versus carbonate‐induced oxidation of a ...

Petrogenesis and Tectonic Evolution of Cenozoic Magmatism in the Southernmost Northern Andes: Insights From Zircon Petrochronology

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract This study integrates new zircon U–Pb ages, zircon εHf(t)–δ18O isotopic data, and whole‐rock geochemistry to refine the temporal and spatial framework of magmatism in the southern Northern Andes (SNA) from ∼65 to 6 Ma. The San Lucas, Catamayo, Portachuela, and Gonzanamá batholiths and magmatic suites, along with Late Miocene plutons, display ...
