The effects of spatial diversity and imperfect channel estimation on wideband MC-DS-CDMA and MC-CDMA
IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2009In our previous work, we compared the theoretical bit error rates of multi-carrier direct sequence code division multiple access (MC-DS-CDMA) and multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA). To ensure a fair comparison, we constrained both schemes to the same bandwidth, information rate, and energy-per-bit, and these constraints resulted in a

An Effective Method for PAPR Reduction in MC-DS-CDMA Systems
2006 International Conference on Wireless Communications, Networking and Mobile Computing, 2006As the combination of OFDM and CDMA, MC-DS-CDMA is a strong candidate for future wireless communication. However, challenges remain before it can achieve full potential. In this paper, we concentrated on reducing the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) in MC-DS-CDMA system and proposed an effective method, which takes advantage of the characteristics of

Comparative study of phase jitter models for uplink MC-CDMA and uplink MC-DS-CDMA
2006 International Conference on Wireless and Mobile Communications (ICWMC'06), 2006In this contribution, we consider the effect of carrier phase jitter on the performance of uplink multicarrier CDMA (MC-CDMA) system and uplink multicarrier direct sequence CDMA (MC-DS-CDMA) system, assuming orthogonal spreading sequences. For this aim, it is proposed to model the phase jitter by gaussian and rayleigh laws.

Chip waveform shaping for band-limited MC-DS-CDMA
Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2005., 2006This paper jointly optimizes the chip waveform and the carrier spacing in order to minimize the multiple access interference (MAI) in band-limited asynchronous multicarrier direct sequence code-division multiple access (MC-DS-CDMA) systems. The methodology uses a polynomial to synthesize the elementary density function, which characterizes the band ...

Linear receivers on MIMO channels: a comparison between DS/CDMA and MC-DS/CDMA
2004This paper is aimed at presenting a comparison between Direct-Sequence CDMA (DS/CDMA), employing only one carrier, and Multi-Carrier DS/CDMA (MC-DS/CDMA), for information transmission over a Multiple-Input Multiple- Output (MIMO) frequency selective channel with a global bandwidth constraint.

MC-CDMA vs. DS-CDMA in the Presence of Nonlinear Distortions
2000In this paper we analyze the influence of the non-linearity effects due to high power amplifiers in MC-CDMA scheme. The results are compared to those obtained with the classical DS-CDMA scheme. It is shown that the total degradation for the up-link of a cellular system is about 2 dB more for the MC-CDMA system compared to the DS-CDMA system.
