Supported Single‐Atom Manganese Catalysts for the Trimerization of Ethylene

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
We explore Mn‐catalyzed ethylene oligomerization via oxidative cyclization. Density functional theory (DFT) predicts Mn/LiTiO₂ exhibits enhanced catalytic performance due to electronic modulation, which experimental validation confirms with higher conversion and hexene selectivity.

Hydrodesulfurization of Thiophene over Ni‐Doped MoS2‐Supported Mesoporous Silica

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
The catalytic conversion of thiophene to paraffinic hydrocarbons is presented using mesoporous SBA‐15‐supported MoS2 and NiMoS2 catalysts. Few‐layer MoS2 nanosheets decorate the surface and pore walls, while Ni incorporation enhances hydrogen activation and promotes NiMoS phases.

Effect of Lignin, Humins, and Biomass‐Derived Acids on Kinetics of Catalytic Hydroxymethylfurfural Production during Saccharide Dehydration Reactions

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
(Hemi)celluloses, abundant in lignocellulosic biomass, can be hydrolyzed and dehydrated into furanics like 5‐hydroxymethylfurfural (5‐HMF) and levulinic acid. Despite its potential, 5‐HMF production remains limited by inefficiencies, notably humin formation.

Superior Performance and Catalytic Mechanism of an Icosahedral Quasicrystal Al‐Cu‐Fe in CO2 Reduction to CO

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
Icosahedral quasicrystal Al63Cu25Fe12 (iQC) is employed as a high‐performance catalyst for CO2‐to‐CO conversion. The iQC exhibits superior CO2 conversion compared with its crystalline counterparts. Density functional theory calculations reveal that abundant icosahedral clusters within iQC effectively lower the reaction barrier, elucidating the origin ...
