A link between increased temperature and avian body condition in a logged tropical forest

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract The combined effects of anthropogenic disturbances, such as logging and climate change, remain poorly understood; yet, they are the main threats to tropical biodiversity. Most tropical African countries lack long‐term climate data, so climate impacts on biodiversity cannot be assessed.

Environmental DNA for invasive rat surveillance and biosecurity on islands

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, EarlyView.
We collected aquatic eDNA samples from beach and lake sites on three atoll islands with different invasion statuses before and after a rat eradication operation. Two dozen eDNA samples can confirm with ≥95% probability the presence of invasive rats prior to any management intervention. However, following the eradication operation, neither targeted eDNA

Inflation expectations and time variations in the oil price pass‐through

open access: yesEconomic Inquiry, EarlyView.
Abstract Previous literature suggests that the pass‐through of oil price shocks to inflation rates became weaker since the 1970s. I use a time‐varying parameter VAR to show that this trend has recently been reversed with headline and core inflation rates responding more sensitive to oil price shocks. Based on a counterfactual analysis, I offer evidence

Interdependence of government expenditure among European countries: Productivity spillover and strategic interaction

open access: yesEconomic Inquiry, EarlyView.
Abstract We build an endogenous growth model that distinguishes productive and welfare government expenditures and embeds fiscal externalities. The model yields three testable hypotheses: (i) productive expenditure raises growth (Barro effect); (ii) productive expenditure generates cross‐country productivity spillovers; (iii) government expenditure ...

A New Experimental Setup to Study the Olfactory Behaviour of Trichogramma Egg Parasitoids

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
We developed an experimental setup to assess odor‐induced egg‐laying behavior in tiny egg‐parasitoid wasps. This Y‐shaped olfactometer, coupled with an AI‐based image‐recognition model, automatically quantifies egg parasitism by Trichogramma wasps. Olfactory‐driven egg‐laying preferences were analyzed using Bayesian inference.
